warning: cursing(¿)
i was walking in an empty street, heading home from a friend's house with a blasting music in my earphones as it harmonizes with the buzzing sound of the cicadas.
the cold breeze of december brushed on my skin that made me shiver a bit. i look up to see the pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky and the stars were perfectly painted on it.
a group of young men, around 16 to 19 years of age were chit-chatting near my house. their loud laughs echoed through the empty streets, like it was the best night of their life.
i was about to cross to the other road when one of the guys approached you.
“why does little missy stroll around at this time of the night?” he asked, blocking my way. the others followed, now circling me. i just kept my head down, making sure not to make eye contact to any of the guys.
“you know it's very dangerous for a pretty girl like you, right?” the guy with a slit on his eyebrow asked, the other laughed at the statement their friend asked.
before i could take a step backward, i felt a large hand holding my shoulder, making sure i can't run.
“l-let me go, p-please.” i begged as i felt the unwanted tears fell down my cold cheeks.
“give me a good reason to let you go.” he demanded, while the others laughed ruthlessly. i tried to think hard of a reason hoping they'd let me go if i say one, but nothing has entered my mind.
before i looked up again to try and beg one more time, i saw someone was approaching to where we were at and finally i've had a reason to tell.
“my boyfriend's here!” i lied, assuming they'd buy it. i tried to stand up and i got out from the guy's grip and ran towards the other guy who was walking.
“babe, i'm glad you're here!” i acted and hugged him.
“who are y-”? he hesitantly returned the hug.
“just play along. please” i said and he nodded, not saying a single word for a response.
“rindou?!” the guy with the slit on his eyebrow shockingly asked.
“wait for me here, alright? we're just going to have a small talk.” rindou sweetly smiled, gently pulling out from the hug as he tucked the hair that was on my face, then he wiped my tears.
“why'd do you think it's a good idea of laying a finger on my girl?” rindou angrily grabbed the collar of the guy's shirt.
“we didn't know that she's your girlfriend. please spare us!” and now he's the one begging for his life. serves him right.
“if i ever see you doing this again, i won't think i'd let y'all slide.” he warned, as he punched the guy in the gut.
“now, fuck off!” they all ran as the others helped the poor guy.
“thank you, rindou.” you said, walking towards him.
“it's nothing.” he briefly answered.
“if you have something you want me to do, i'll gladly do them as a thank you for saving me.”
“i told you, it's nothing. don't sweat it.”
“please? just let me do something as a return!” i insisted.
“fine. let's go have a dinner.” he uttered.
“wait-” i paused, that made him to look at me with a furrowed brow.
“right now?” i added.
“yeah. i'm hungry.” he said and starts to walk.
“wait for me!” i called and hurriedly jogged.
the night ended with rindou not knowing my name and me going to have a dinner with a stranger.
