[Me]

The week after we camped out on the balcony.

I'm seeing Yamato off to work.

"See you later"

"Yeah, see you"

[Me]

[Yamato]
"See you. . . How many times are you going to make me do this?!"

[Me]
"Huh?"

[Yamato]
"Where's my goodbye kiss?"

[Me]
"Oh. . .Is that what you were waiting for!?"

[Yamato]
"Of course. It makes a big difference to how I attack the day, you know"

(I didn't know it was that important. . . I'm a little shy, but. . .)

[Me]
"Then. . .can you crouch down a little?"

[Yamato]
"Okay"

I put my hand on his shoulder and stretch up to kiss him on the cheek.

Yamato's pleased nod's so funny, I can't help but chuckle.

[Yamato]
"What are you laughing about?"

[Me]
"You're so funny"

[Yamato]
"How rude. . . This is a totally normal thing for a husband to do, you know. You know, you're looking better and better everyday"

[Me]
"Oh, really?"

[Yamato]
"It's probably all those daily face exercise you've been secretly doing"

[Me]
"Yeah, Lilly taught me how to do them. . . Wait, how did you know?!"

[Yamato]
"I didn't know you were really doing them. I was just joking"

[Me]
"And I fell for it. . . !"

[Yamato]
"I'm not talking about that kind of stuff though, I'm talking about your expression. You seemed a little down for a while. But the life's back in your eyes"

(Does he mean. . . ?)

[Me]
"It's all because of you, Yamato"

[Yamato]
"Me?"

[Me]
"You know, when we camped out on the balcony together. . .that helped a lot"

(It was such a breath of fresh air, I felt so much better)

[Yamato]
"I didn't know you had such a camping craving"

[Me]
"Huh?"

[Yamato]
"Let's sleep in the tent again, make it a regular thing"

[Me]
"Wait, no! It wasn't the tent part that made me so happy. . ."

[Yamato]
"It wasn't? Then what was it?"

[Me]
"It was your feelings for me"

[Yamato]
"Yumi. . ."

[Me]
"You noticed how down I was, right? That was so nice of you"

[Yamato]
". . . Of course, I did"

Yamato looks a little shy at what I said.

[Yamato]
"It's a husband's job to cheer his wife up when she's upset"

[Me]
"Yamato. . ."

[Yamato]
". . . Jeez, don't make me say these lovey dovey things so early in the morning"

Yamato says, blushing with embarrassment.

(He gets so awkward when he has to talk about his feelings. But when I'm honest with him about how I feel, he's honest back. I'll remember that. . .)

[Yamato]
"Anyway, I like you better when you're smiling"

[Me]
". . . Thanks"

Yamato happily ruffles my hair.

Yamato goes out the front door.

I wave goodbye and remember what he said the other day.
