Tom stared down Jake's mother with clear hatred burning in his eyes as he pulled his mask back over his nose. One of the woman's eyes twitched with rage. She grabbed Jake by the collar of his shirt, pulling him away from Tom. Jake yelped as she held him in place. "See? I should've locked your room from the outside in the moment you tried to convince us you didn't like girls. Now look what you've done. You're making me be the bad guy." She practically barked before throwing Jake to the side and walking over to confront Tom. Tom put his hands in the air defensively in attempt to stop from fighting. The woman didn't seem to care much, throwing a hard punch to the face and grabbing Tom by his throat.

Jake's POV
=========
I panicked, looking around, my eyes landed on my clock. "Darla, honey! We're back from our trip early so we have to go to the church today!" I heard my father's voice break through the tension. I watched as my mother dropped Tom. "Coming Jorge! One moment." She yelled in response before walking over to me and digging one of her heeled sandals into my ribs. I made a pained sound and curled in on myself as she walked out of my room. I heard Tom walk over to me and I looked up at him. "C'mon. Let's leave while they're gone." He helped me up and I could see that he would definitely have a black eye in a couple hours. We grabbed our bags and I went over to one of my drawers. I opened it and pulled out a phone I had bought with some earned cash and money I found on the coffee table one day. Tom nodded and we went downstairs. I powered on the phone and pulled out a small note card. "What's that?" Tom asked. "I got Miriam and Eli's contact information before we left the campsite. I'm hoping it'll come in handy. Especially right now." Tom made a sound of agreement as I put my phone back in my pocket.

~Fuck it. Time skip~

Tom and Jake walked down the street, Jake fumbling with the phone in his hands. They stopped next to a lamp post and Tom sighed. "Hand it to me." He said, holding out his hand. The other gave an annoyed look before surrendering over the device. Tom checked a few things on the phone. "We can't get proper service with this phone. Did you already save the phone numbers you were given?" Tom asked. Jake nodded slowly in response. "Alright. Let's head to a coffee shop then and see if we can use the free wifi to call Miriam." Tom stopped to look around before taking Jake's hand and crossing the street. The two walked a few blocks before finding a cafe and making their way inside. "We should order something. Something small." Jake muttered, checking the clock above the door they entered. Tom nodded, finding a seat to set their things down and handing the phone back to Jake. "What do you want?" Jake shrugged in response, gesturing for the other to surprise him. Tom nodded and walked up to the register as Jake fiddled with his phone.
     A moment later Tom came back with a few items in hand. Jake looked up, setting down the phone and taking one of the drinks from Tom. "Sorry, it's decaf. But it is the middle of the day." Jake shrugged again before taking a sip of the drink. It was sweet, tasting like chocolate and pure powdered sugar. It was a simple mocha, he excepted as much."Did you message Miriam?" Tom asked quietly. Jake shook his head. "She doesn't have a cell phone. I texted Eli, though she left me on read." Jake sighed. Tom seemed a little annoyed at this. "We might have to check into a motel tonight." He didn't look very pleased at the thought of a dirty rental room. "It would be better than sleeping on the streets." He was right. Tom knew Jake was right but it was still gross. Well now it was quiet. The sounds of people chattering around them was almost deafening. Jake started feeling paranoid, bouncing his leg with anxiety. Tom noticed, setting his hand on top of Jake's. "What's wrong?" Jake looked up at Tom. "I….I think someone's…. watching us…" Jake spoke quietly before looking around again. Tom patted Jake's hand before feeling his own paranoia set in slowly. He gave into the urge and looked around as well. Eyes burned through his figure but he couldn't pin where from.
     Looking around he eventually found it. Someone was staring at them through gold framed sunglasses, a scarf covered the rest of their face from view. That was unsettling. Tom patted Jake's hand again and pointed at the figure across the cafe. Jake shuddered, staring back at the person who was covered from head to toe in baggy clothes. Yeesh. Did they have a stalker to deal with as well?
