The first snow of winter had come in the midst of the Christmas holiday.
The Christmas holiday that you were looking so forward to.
You were milling around the house, decorating until everything was white, red and green, the color combination that exudes that holiday cheer you needed, you've never turned so many lights on in your house, it was so brightly lit it was straining your eyes a bit, being used to the dim lighting you presented yourself with all the time.
You even baked an cake as it was sitting in the fridge for the nights events.
You had even written down on the calandra in your room, it's Christmas Eve, and your parents are finally coming home.
They haven't been home for a few months now, keeping up with their busy schedule and all, even if you guys call and text often, doesn't mean that the loneliness you feel when you're home isn't present.
Every time they told you they'll be home soon, you got excited, you got giddy, waiting for them to show so you can finally wrap your arms around them.
Yet sadly, they've failed, not every time though.
Even if so, every time you're in an conversation with them, you'd wished you'd express yourself more, you'd wished you could just tell them to come home because you're scared and lonely, you'd wished you could tell them you just wanted to sit around an table and have dinner and talk about the mundane little details of life.
You'd wished you told them to come home.
But each time you repressed yourself, hearing the tiresome laced in their voice, you stop yourself before you could pile on the plate of stress they've already have.
You wanted to be good, you didn't want them to worry, so you kept your mouth shut.
But this time it's going to be different, they're so adamant on promising they'll be back, they're so-
The ringing of your phone distracted you mid decorating of the Christmas tree.
You quickly walk over to it and picked it up.
"Hey honey" it's the voice.
"How are you doing right now?" It's that tone.
"I-I'm decorating the house for you guys" you responded with an cherry tone, trying to push back the nagging voice in your head.
It's different this time! They promised!
"O-oh that's wonderful darling!" The guilt was evident in their voice, it was unavoidable, especially when you've been so used to hearing it all the time.
"Y-yeah Okaa-San, I made everything so pretty, and I-I even made the cake you and Otou-San like" you continues, tripping over your words, you knew what they were going to say, but you weren't about to let them know how truly devastating this is.
