When she felt vulnerable
_________________________Nandini sat on the benches that were placed in the middle of the changing rooms at the hospital with her head hung low and eyes closed as everything replayed in her mind again and again.
It was all my mistake... She thought as hugged her torso because she just wouldn't stop shaking.
A tear tickled down her cheeks, making her stand up with a jerk as she walked up to the washbasin to clean her face. Like always she didn't want anyone else to know what she has been going through.
After washing her face and changing into her clothes, she left the hospital building but only to realise how weak and vulnerable she felt at the moment as her legs gave up because of the mental trauma she had just gone through that made it difficult for her to even walk.
She somehow managed to walk to a bench placed in the garden situated beside the hospital and took out a water bottle from her bag in order to calm her racing heart. There was nothing more threatening for Nandini than feeling vulnerable and weak, she hated that feeling, she hated those traitors that escaped her eyes whenever she felt weak. She hated how easy it was for her to cry, because that's the only thing that would inform the people around her of her state.
I'll always be there for you Nihu. Avantika's voice rang in her from the other night when she found herself being unable to walk even after multiple tries.
Maybe she didn't have to do it all on her own. Maybe being weak wouldn't be that bad at all. Maybe she could open up infront of Avantika.
With that thought, picked up her phone dialing Ava's number. Her heart beat escalated with every ring as she anticipated the moment of her being vulnerable.
"Hello, Ava?" She said with her voice almost breaking.
"Hello? Haan Nihu" she replied from the other side.
Nandini cleared her throat before speaking just to make sure Avantika doesn't exactly know what's going on with her, "Can you come and pick me up?"
But Avantika just knew her all too well to be oblivious, leaving the files she held in her hands on the near by table she asked, "Hey, Are you fine? What happened?"
"No....nothing just, I want a ride back" Nandini replied trying to sound as normal as possible.
Avantika wasn't believing her words but she knew they was no gain drilling her over the phone, so she replied, "Yeah sure, I'll be there. Wait for me okay?"
She ended the phone after getting a 'yes' from Nandini, and made her way towards her desk only to be stopped by her supervisor.
"Where are you going?" She said. "The meeting starts in 5, you are supposed to be presenting your idea"
"But Mam, there's some emergency. I really have to go" Avantika tried to reason with her but she knew this might cost her her job. As the meeting was going to be held with one of the biggest customers and she was supposed to be the one handling the case.
On getting the ultimatum from her boss, she knew she had no other choice but to stay and complete the meeting.
Asking for a few minutes to sort everything out before the meeting she excused herself to the roof, where she came with an idea with which everything could be sorted out.
