When the sun went down
____________________"I officially welcome you to my favorite place in Chandigarh" Manik said with his hands stretched out, standing at the entrance of Sukhna Lake with Nandini beside him, who passed a small smile at his childish behaviour.
He was no doubt the God of hotness, but this childish side of him was adorable and reserved to very close people.
Him, being this semi-introvert person kept his soft baby side hidden from most of the people around and being able to be this carefree in front of Nandini was a shocker for him as well. He had never been this comfortable with anyone but her that too this soon.
At the lake, there were multiple activities to do, and that was another reason why he brought her to this place, "the perfect distraction"
The First thing he wanted her to do was boating obviously, timings for boating were fixed and he definitely didn't want her to miss that. Boating in Sukhna lake is a must.
He walked towards the ticket booth, with Nandini following him noticing thousands of people around her, some with their family while some with friends, everyone seemed so happy and that brought a small smile on her lips. At that very moment Manik turned behind to check on her and saw her adoring a pair of couple with their child having ice cream, and he knew his plan was working in the best way possible.
Buying the ticket for two he took her to the quay and chose the best boat for two of them. It was a beautiful swan shaped boat, white in colour, along with a shed on the top.
He stepped inside the boat first and then held her hand followed by her waist, helping her get inside.
Manik couldn't help but notice a little hue on Nandini's cheeks as he held her waist. She looked down to avoid his gaze that was just stuck on her, and that brought Manik out of his dream land making him realise the awkward situation, that he had put both of them in.
In order to get rid of the awkwardness, he quickly removed his hand and settled down on his side, followed by Nandini.
They were supposed to paddle the boat on their own. So it was just the two of them and the calm water all around them. The timings for boating were about to close so there were very few people around, mostly couples who were here to enjoy the sunset.
For a few minutes no one spoke anything, but still the silence seemed so beautiful, divine. The silence seemed to connect them in the ways words never could.
They would steal glances from time to time and pass a smile when they would catch the other staring. Everything was so serene.
"Manik!" Nandini softly called out to Manik who was looking at the hills present right in front of them.
He looked at her as if asking her continue, while she smiled and held his hand kept in between them saying "Thank you so much for bringing me here"
That small statement from her made his eyes sparkle with happiness, making her happy was all he wanted and seeing her smile made his heart swell with joy.
He just kept staring at her face tinged with the red blush while she kept staring at their entangled hands, as their boat stood still in the middle of the lake. People boating around them, looked at them with a genuine smile, they could feel the sparks flying around in the way they looked at each other.
Their trance broke as they heard a whistle being blown, which was a sign that the boating time had come to an end and as a result Manik turned the steering wheel towards the dock.Later Manik took her to an ice-cream vendor. Ice-cream is like the best thing in the world for Manik, his whole world revolves around it. He eats one everyday, and other than that when ever he gets an opportunity to. So how could he miss such a golden opportunity of having one with Nandini.
"you know I love ice-cream sooo much, I am kinda obsessed" Manik said making Nandini laugh seeing his excitement, eyeing the bhaiya who was currently making his Chocolate plus Black Current plus Strawberry ice-cream.
He was weird, who eats three Completly different flavors together. That's what was going in Nandini's mind the whole time, and when she asked him, who simply shrugged with a reply "Because I love them all and don't wanna miss a chance of having any"
That made Nandini literally choke on her ice-cream, while Manik initially got worried but later smiled seeing her laugh uncontrollably.
Nandini stopped laughing as she saw his gaze over her, he stepped a little closer and extended his hand wiping the ice cream that was smugged all over her face.
Nandini blushed a little and turned around to walk up to the shore which was made out of stone and was a place where people could sit and enjoy the sunset. Manik ran upto her and sat beside devouring his ice-cream while she ate hers.
Both kept looking towards the sun that was about to go below the horizon. The setting sun created a magical streak of glittering light reaching across the water, while the sky got painted with the orangish red texture.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the fleeting colors of dusk began to fade away, which made Nandini smile as she could feel all her worries go away with the sun. She was getting back to her happy self and all this was because of the person sitting right beside her.
She looked at him to see him already looking at her, he had finished his ice-cream long ago and had been staring her as she watched the sunset, preparing to rise at some other place and spread happiness around.
Nandini felt intrigued at the way he kept looking at her, she felt this rush of blood in her cheeks as she lowered her eyes. She had never blushed this much in her whole life. This guy had the audacity to make her go crazy.
Much to Manik's surprise, Nandini shifted a little closer to him and held his arm, keeping her head on his shoulder.
And started narrating the incident that happened, which shook her so much that she couldn't think straight, all she could do was cry. The reason because of which she got an early off, the reason because of which she did nothing but silently cried while staring out of the window in his car.
