The Vanishing Glass

Just Like Magic - One Direction

Diana's POV

There it is: the annoying sound of aunt Petunia's voice 'Up! Get up! Now!' Both me and Harry woke with a start in the small cupboard that we share. 'Sleep well?' Harry asked while putting on his glasses. 'Alright' I answered. Aunt Petunia came back ramming on the door once again. 'Are you up yet?' 'Nearly' we answered in unison. 'I want you to look after the bacon' 'Yes aunt Petunia' 'I want everything to be perfect on Duddy's birthday'

While Harry watched over the bacon and eggs, I was doing the dishes and making coffee, until I heard: 'How many are there?!' I saw Dudley in the sitting room. 'Thirty-six. Counted them myself' uncle Vernon said like it was a difficult thing to do. 'Thirty-six?! But last year, last year I had thirty-seven!' Harry rolled his eyes at this sassily while pouring coffee for uncle Vernon. 'Yeah, but some of them are a bit bigger than last year' Vernon defended himself. 'I don't care how big they are!' The little brat yelled at his father. 'This is what we're going to do. When we go out we are going to buy you two new presents. How's that pumpkin?' Aunt Petunia said to calm Dudley.

This is what's life like at the Dursleys. Our parents, Lily and James Potter died in a car crash ten years ago. Well, that's what the Dursleys have been telling Harry and me. But for some reason I keep seeing a green flashing light in my dreams.

'Make it move' Dudley said while we were all staring at the snake behind the glass. 'Move!' Vernon said while banging his fist against the glass. 'He's asleep' Harry replied. 'He's boring' and the Dursleys walked away.

'Twat' Harry and I said in unison. 'Poor snake. People don't understand what it's like. Lying here day after day' I said while looking at the snake with sympathy. 'Watching people press their ugly faces on you' Harry added.

Harry and I do that a lot: Finishing each others sentences and talk in unison.

The snake made a movement with his head. Both Harry and I looked at the snake with shock on our faces. 'Can you hear me?' The snake nodded his head. 'It's just i've never talked to a snake before. And neither has my twin sister Diana' 'Do you. I mean do you talk to people often?' The snake shook his head no. 'You're from Burma aren't you?' I asked and the snake nodded again. 'Was it nice there? Do you miss your family' The snake turned his head to a sign that said: "Bred in captivity". 'I see. We never really got to know our parents'.

'Mummy, dad come here!' The twat himself came running to the snake and pushed me and Harry out of the way, on the ground. 'Thanks a lot for that' I said to him, sarcasm in my voice. Uncle Vernon looked at me warningly with an ugly glare on his purple face.

This made me pissed. I wish he could just be captured behind the glass like that snake. See what it's like.

And then suddenly, just like magic, the glass actually vanished and Dudders fell into the water.

Harry and I couldn't keep our laughter in. The snake came sliding to us 'Thanksss' he hissed. 'Anytime!' I replied with a slight smile, and he slythered away.

'Snake!' A man yelled and everyone started screaming. Oh how I love causing trouble.

Like I said before: I hoped that Dudley actually got captured behind the glass, and apparently wishes do come true sometimes. It's true: revenge is sweet.

Ofcourse. I should've known. Ofcourse the fun can't last long. As soon as we got home, Harry and I got dragged by our hair and locked up in our bedroom again (well if you can even call it a room). No food for an entire week. Yay.

I sighed and lay down in the small cupboard looking up at the ceiling.

'Some day. I promise you Diana. Some day we will get out of here and we will be free. Free from the Dursleys and this world.' 'I know Harry' I replied.
