I do not own Naruto
I quickly performed the ram handsign, releasing chakra and freeing myself of the genjutsu. I looked around, seeing that everyone else was asleep. Naruto and Shikamaru were passed out on the ground as Sakura looked around, confused. 'Looks like she sensed the genjutsu too.'
"They outwitted the ANBU." Kakashi sighed. "The ANBU are supposed to be the best." Gai gritted his teeth as five sound ninja landed in front of them. "What a nuisance." Kakashi grunted, obviously annoyed.
"The enemy masquerading as ANBU." Gai glared at the sound ninja.
Kakashi and Gai glanced up at the Hokage, who was being held hostage by the Kazekage. I narrowed my eyes at the Kazekage as he held his kunai against the Hokage's neck. 'So the sand betrayed the leaf. . . no, that's not it. . .' My eyes widened as I turned to Kakashi. 'It's Orochimaru.' That's why nobody knew where he was. He's taken over the Kazegage's body. My eyes drifted down to the arena, where Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara were fleeing the scene. 'They have to be a part of it.' I sighed as I realized their plan. If Orochimaru were to somehow get the sand to betray the leaf, then Gaara would be the trump card. They'd use him and Shukaku to destroy the whole village. The leaf village would be no more and Orochimaru would get Sasuke.
"It's Orochimaru!" I pointed to the purple barrier that held the two Kages.
Sakura gasped and stood up, whipping her head in the direction I was pointing as Kakashi and Gai growled. "Hey, Sasuke-" Sakura started, stopping short once she realized that he was gone.
I frowned, remembering that the sand siblings had left just a few moments earlier. "He must've followed them." I muttered.
"Who?" Sakura turned to me, her glossy eyes filled with concern for the boy.
"Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro." I explained. "They left a few minutes ago. That idiot probably followed them." Sakura stood in her place, frozen as she processed the news I had just given her. While she was paralyzed with worry, two sound ninja's jumped towards her, ready to attack. I glared at the girl as I rushed in front of her, quickly dragging a senbon out of my hair and putting it between my teeth as I performed the fireball jutsu. The ball of fire flew out of my mouth and towards the sound ninja, knocking them back and leaving them for Kakashi and Gai to deal with and heating up the senbon in the process. I quickly looked to my left, spitting out the senbon at a ninja who was getting ready to attack from the side. The heated senbon pushed into the ninja's neck, causing him to pass out or die, I wasn't sure which one. I spun around to face Sakura who had her head between her arms in fear. 'Is she serious? She sees an enemy coming at her, so she puts her head down? She didn't even try to dodge, she just accepted it.' She peaked up as I grabbed the collar of her dress and brought her close to my face, annoyed with her. "You can't freeze up like that during a fight! If I hadn't saved you, they might've killed you!" I growled. "You're a ninja, Sakura, so get your fucking shit together and act like it!"
Sakura had tears in her eyes as she stared at me, a shaky frown on her face. I realize I might've been a little harsh, but she can't just rely on everyone else all the time. If she wants to be a ninja, she has to learn how to stand up for herself. I let out a deep sigh as I let go of her and faced Kakashi. I know he heard what I had said, but he didn't say anything about it.
Instead, he gave us both a close eyed smile. "It would seem that you two have a talent for genjutsu. I need you two to release the genjutsu and wake up Naruto and Shikamaru." He ordered. "Naruto will be delighted. He'll be getting a mission after so long."
Sakura glanced at me, still wary of me. "What kind of mission?" She asked quietly.
"You'll have to be careful on this one." Kakashi looked around, making sure no ninja were near him. "It's the first A ranked mission since the Land of Waves."
