THE paper is light in his hands, eyes tracing the neatly scripted composition lines as he rereads the words for the third time. Kyojuro had only just opened his locker to grab a notebook he forgot when the small folded note came tumbling out.

Looking around, there didn't appear to be anyone who had been near or in the vicinity of his locker in the time he had turned the corner from the other hall.

"We'll be late, let's go." Quickly folding the slip of paper, he tucked it away in his pocket, grabbing the notebook before shutting the locker and following the voice of his classmate, Tomioka Giyuu.

The two walked side-by-side back to their respective classroom, though one-half of the pair was still too preoccupied with the note in his locker, so much so he barely registered nearly running over your rather hurried figure.

"Goddammit!" Not the most colorful curse, but definitely enough to shake Kyojuro from his daze to see you scrambling to pick up dropped papers and notebooks. He hears a sigh from his side, no doubt Giyuu leaning down to help pick up the scattered aftermath.

"Sorry..." Leaning down to help too, Kyojuro is sure his eyes catch the slight curl of ink at your neck where one button remains undone. What looks to be a hollow four-point star peeks out from the white cotton of your uniform shirt collar and he can't help but find himself rather transfixed on the tattoo.

Sensing this, you flit your gaze up, only to be met with rather curious crimson irises which appear to be focused on something of your upper body area. Your fingers feel deftly for your collar, movements automatic in the way they easily button your now unrevealing shirt. Clearing your throat, Kyojuro focuses his gaze elsewhere, something unknown passing in his eyes.

The three of you stand up, Kyojuro being to first to bow his head in apology. "I sincerely apologize!" Giyuu nods his head, offering a monosyllable of extra reassurance to his friend's apols.

He doesn't hear your response, only the soft, quick padding of your footsteps against the linoleum as you continue down the rest of your path (evidently in the opposite direction of the two boys.)

"Hey, Giyuu," Kyojuro starts, matching pace with his dark-haired friend as they continue down the empty hallway. By now they were sure to both be late, but knowing how teachers were with the pair, only a soft scolding awaited them.

"Huh?"

"What's the regulation on tattoos?"
