Meeting Avengers

"Natasha, glad you're here," Pepper said giving her a hug.

"Hailey, Meet Natasha Romanoff, and Natasha meet Hailey Potter," Pepper said introducing them. Natasha gave her a confused look.

"Hi Ms.Romanoff, pleasant to meet you," Hailey said extending her hand.

"Nice to mee you too," Natasha said taking her hand and offering her a genuine smile in return.

"Pepper! Is anybody gonna tell me anything? Did you and Tony adopt?" Natasha whispered.

"Nat, I'll tell you everything when Bruce and Clint arrive and No, we did not adopt," Pepper whispered back laughing at the last part.

Hailey would consider herself a major introvert and awkward in social settings. This was one great example. And usually, she would consider age a mere number because after all being older doesn't mean you're smarter but right now she would kill to have someone her age around here. She felt SO out of place, she didn't even think it was possible. She had been introduced to Dr.Banner who also gave her a weird look and asked Tony exactly who she was and what she was doing here.

Then he said, and I quote, "You didn't strike as the father type," and Tony had to confirm that it wasn't true. Seriously! What was it with these people thinking she was adopted like she hadn't fought a battle with them? She remembered everyone and that really hurt.

"Hey Barton, so glad you could join us 22 seconds before dinner," Tony greeted as they were setting the table.

"Hello Clint, we were just waiting for you," Pepper greeted. Natasha and Dr.Banner both acknowledged Barton before his eyes landed on Hailey.

"Correct me if I'm wrong...but you're the kid from the building," he said.

"Finally! Someone remembered I fought on THEIR side" Hailey said. "Thank you, Hailey Potter," she said holding out her hand.

"Wait what?! Tony, Pepper, Steve, everybody is here now can we please get some background info?" Natasha asked.

"Yea I've definitely lost my mind because I remember a stick that blasted things," Clint said.

"Nobody has lost their mind. Hailey here has accidentally managed to get herself transported to a different universe," Steve explained.

"Yea and there everyone has sticks to do cool stuff and they use Porcupine guts for medicine," Tony added.

Wow, that was undermining magic and her skills.

The 3 of them looked towards Pepper for confirmation and then stared at Hailey.

"First off, I do not expect you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art of potion-making. And secondly, it is a magic wand. W-A-N-D, not a stick." Hailey explained sounding way more British than she normally did.

"And she's British," Barton said.

Maybe it was too early to give an opinion but Barton is an asshole.

"Why don't we get started with Dinner, we'll have plenty of time to discuss this later," Pepper said.

Hailey took her usual seat beside Tony and now Natasha.

"You're gonna have to show me the science part of potion-making later, ok?" Tony whispered. Hailey gave her a look. Honestly, today was not her day!

The rest of the group made a conversation while Hailey preferred to stay out mostly because she really really missed home right now and because she felt like she didn't belong. And she also knew this conversation was just to be polite because what they really wanted to talk about was her. Maybe...
