track 9: crying clouds

I watch the raindrops hit the window and drip down to the sill, then drop to the ground... or a car roof, or Namjoon, or Hoseok, or manager, or a staff member, or–

"Y/N, I got some tea for you." Yoongi announces, I nod at him as he sets the tea down on the coffee table.

I resume back to noticing the raindrops. The room was brimming with the sound of rain pattering and Yoongi's pen gliding across the paper. I checked back on him every minute to make sure he was doing alright.

I was a blank canvas today, not feeling anything in particular. All I knew was that the rain was relaxing me, driving me to a serene state.

"Don't you guys have a song called Rain?" I question, trying to remember a song that the trio (Yoongi, Hoseok and Namjoon) wrote during their early songwriting days.

"Yeah, we do."

"Will it ever see the light of day?" I ask expectantly. I really enjoyed the blend of their voices on that song, and it was very soothing, too. None of them sang, but it's given that they had tons of songs that never got the chance to get passed on or they chose not to reveal it to the public eye.

"Not sure, it's an archived song as of now. I guess it never crossed anybody's mind to release a song on the clouds crying."

"It's surprising, isn't it?" I finally turn around, looking at Yoongi.

"Very much so," he starts playing with the sleeve of his shirt. "I've composed a lot of songs that radiate rainy day vibes or are perfect to listen to while it rains but never specifically songs on the said topic."

"I don't know why," I ponder, "but I feel like Namjoon does write a lot about rain."

Yoongi nods in agreement. "He does."

"Really?" It really made me excited to hear that, I'm not sure why.

Yoongi nods again as he sips his tea. "It may be metaphorical most of the time, but I'm sure he has a good collection of rain related songs."

I felt a weird urge to write songs about rain.

"Should we do the honours and write about rain?"

"Purely on rain though, nothing metaphorical."

"That's exactly what I had in mind."

He smiles at me. "It's a natural phenomenon. There should be plenty of things to write about rain."

"I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but we become aware of our surroundings a lot more when it rains." I blow on the steaming hot tea before taking a small sip.

Yoongi looks up, then back at me as realisation strikes him.

"How did I never notice that?" He facepalms. "You start noticing the roads, the windows, the people on the street, the roofing, the gray sky, and what not?"

"It's tough," I cry. "We gotta come up with something more impressive than gray clouds and people without umbrellas or raincoats running for their lives on the street."

"That's indeed tough."

"No.. wait, did you forget about manager?"

His face scrunches up. "What does manager have to do with this?"

"The amount of droplets that fall during an average rainy day are the same amount of big fat tears that manager cries out when he's handing us our paychecks."

"We're gonna be crying big fat tears if manager hears this."
