I hid behind a wall breathing heavily. I was exhausted, but nobody needed to know that.
I took a deep berth and felt for the small fighting knife in my sash.
"Come and face your fate, Coward!" He demanded.
I stepped from my hiding spot and bravely looked him in the eye. I gave him a smirk.
"You still haven't been able to catch me. Do you really think that this time will be any different?" I asked him after a snicker.
He was obviously tired from chasing be as well. Sweat was dripping from his face. His veins were popping out of his head from anger. Every kid's dream. Note my sarcasm.
"I have been chasing you for what seems like millenniums. You will get tired of it soon. I mean, look at you, you are but a child!" He scoffed.
"That may be so, but you are just a senior citizen," I mocked with a grin.
He gave me a death stare. I knew what he wanted this time. It was way more reasonable than his other request, one being my life, but I couldn't give it to him.
"Give me the dust!" He yelled in fury.
I laughed at his frustration.
"What? You me this dust?" I teased as I pulled of the necklace around my neck. Attached to that necklace was a small pouch with no more than 5 ounces of pixie dust. Not a lot at all.
I couldn't let him have any at all. He had already taken over almost half of Neverland. With this dust, he could easily get to the other half that was only reachable by air. Or even worse.
The Mainland.
Chaos would be everywhere. He would kidnap children to become his slaves. He would kill everyone who was of no use to him. He would destroy everything that people have worked so hard for.
I usually thought of it as a game, but if he were to win against me...
I shook of the thought. I had to concentrate.
"Hey, CCB," I started as I pulled out the knife, "since we both know I'm going to win do you want to just surrender now?"
His face instantly became red. Without a word he pulled out his long sword and ran toward me.
I just stood there grinning at his attack. His attempts to kill me were actually very funny.
Just as he swung his sword in an action to hit me, I flew up into the air.
He yelled in frustration.
"My turn," I remarked.
I threw my knife at him intentionally missing. Since there was a wall right behind him, the knife I threw went through his stupid little black cape to the wall. The knife went all the way into the wall causing the cape to be stuck.
He struggled to get free. Seeing my chance, when he could go no further, I flew as close to his face as I would dare.
"Next time I won't miss," I teased him while taking his pirate hat off of his head.
"I think I'll keep it."
I put the oversized hat on my head and laughed.
"Your no match for me," I told him.
He looked as he took this into consideration. He then nodded his head in agreement.
"You're right," he agreed.
This shocked me so much that I fell from flying to the ground.
"Wha-waaa?" I stuttered.
"But I'll make a deal with you. I will let the rest of Neverland be and I'll leave the Mainland alone if..."
"If what?" I hesitantly asked.
"If you will give me three children from the Mainland," he replied with a smile.
My mouth dropped open.
"Oh, wait. You're a 'hero' so you will never accept this little wager," he said with a grin.
"I'll do it," I quickly answered returning the grin. Accept he wasn't grinning anymore.
"They can't be orphans and the have to be from twelve years of age to seventeen," he argued.
"Accepted."
"You have to take them from their parents," he told me trying to make me back out.
Those words danced in my head. I choked back the tears and put on a brave face.
"Deal," I told him.
I then reached for my knife as he was still stuck on the wall, but he stopped me.
"Nu-uh-uh, to make sure that you come back with my kids, you won't be getting this back until I have them. If you can part with your beloved knife for that long. Which I doubt."
He was now sure that I would back out. He knew what that knife meant to me. He knew who gave it to me.
"Just three kids?" I asked.
He looked at me like with disbelief. He probably thought that I would never go through with this, but he put something into this. That knife is way to important to me.
He then put this mischievous look on his face.
"From the Mainland. From New York."
I thought about it. He was making this very hard.
I smiled and offered my hand.
"Deal," I agreed.
He looked very surprised at my action.
He then took my hand and shook it.
"Deal, but take backs are acceptable."
Remember, Maya, it's just three kids. Just three kids.
Just three kids.
Just three innocent kids.
