Chapter 2: Far Away

(Harry's POV )

It killed me to drive away from Liam's after the visit. Aspen didn't want to leave him and Liam was upset he didn't get to see Tatem, but I agree with Maya it's been five months and he now just want to be a part of the girls' lives it wasn't fair to them.

"Uncle Harry?" Aspen whined. "Yes bug?" I asked her. "Will you be my new daddy?" She asked me. "You have a daddy," I told her. "He doesn't stay at Mommy's though," she cried. Soon she was throwing a full blown fit. I kept driving trying to calm her down but nothing seemed to work.

(Maya's POV )

"Tate, mommy loves you," I told her as I laid her down for bed. I hope Aspen had a great afternoon with Harry and Liam but I was ready for her to be home and have my her back with me.

I turned Tatem's nightlight on and left the room. I couldn't believe she was already sleeping on her own. She was growing so fast. I walked to my room and changed into some comfy clothes. 

Liam: why was Tate there today?

Speaking of the devil. He's going to throw a fit now, like the big baby he has become. I didn't even respond I just opened the message so my phone didn't have the notification anymore.

I couldn't believe he walked out of our lives and then all of a sudden when he is thrown into rehab he wants his daughters in his life again. When he was living with Karen he didn't even try to talk to them.  He ignored all my messages and calls. Super dad isn't fooling anyone here.  LA was scary enough but being a single mom in LA is even worse. 

"Mommy! We are home!" Harry laughed. I smiled as I stepped out of my room and walked into the livingroom.  I noticed Aspen was asleep in Harry's arms. She looked very peaceful. "I'll put her to bed," he whispered. I just smiled and nodded. I set down on the couch and turned the TV on.

"How was it?" I asked unsure if I wanted the answer when Harry set down next to me. "She didn't want to leave," he sighed as he put his arm around me. I rested my head on his shoulder. Tears started to fall from my eyes and I couldn't stop them. "Where did I go wrong?" I cried. Harry wrapped me in his arms and pulled me close to him. "You did nothing wrong," he repeated over and over again.

The next morning I woke up to Aspen jumping on my bed. "Mommy!" She exclaimed. "What?" I asked her with a yawn. "Can I see Daddy today?" She asked.  "I'll call him and ask okay?" I asked him. "Okay," she smiled. She crawled over to the other side of the bed and I turned the TV on to Sophia the First.  "Mommy I want to be a princess when I'm grow up," Aspen told me halfway through the show. "Honey you are a princess," I smiled are her.
