Chapter 5: Moving forward or backwards?

Liam: are you still coming today?

I set my phone on the kitchen counter and continued to make breakfast for Aspen before I woke her up. I usually did this to give her a few extra minutes of sleep every morning plus it gave me some time to myself before the craziness set in for the day.

Maya: Yes Liam but we need to sit down and talk this through.

Liam: I understand.

Maya: Do you really Lee?

Liam: yes I do.

"Mommy? Are we seeing Daddy today?" Aspen yawned as she walked into the kitchen. "When did you wake up?" I asked her. "Just a few seconds 'go," she said she she climbed up to the table. "I made you breakfast," I told her. "Mommy can you work at home?" She asked me once again. "I would love to honey, but there is so much to do at work that I can't move yet," I told her as I dished up her breakfast.

Harry: Joe and Nick are in town.

Maya: Harry what part of don't talk to me don't you get?

Harry: Really Maya?

Maya: Yeah, I need my space.

Harry: I ask you on a date, you say no and then you refuse to talk to me? Is this because you are going to see Liam today?

Maya: This has nothing to do with Liam and you know that!

Next thing I know Aspen is falling out of her chair having a seizure. I throw my phone and rush over to her and wrap her shaking body in my arms. Tears fill my eyes, I know I couldn't do this on my own anymore. If Liam wasn't going to step as a father then I had to find someone to help me, or quit my job and move back to Nebraska and be with my family.

"Maya? I'm here to watch the girls!" Danielle Jonas called from the doorway. "In the kitchen! Aspen is having a seizure!" I called out. I heard her rush through the house. "Is she okay?" She asked when she made it to the kitchen.

I looked down at Aspen to see the seizure had passed. "Yes, I'm going to lay her on the couch," I sigh. After every seizure I feel defeated. I lay Aspen on the couch and soon she is asleep. I walk back to the kitchen to put her breakfast in the trash can it was ruined by now.

"You go get ready, I'll clean up here," Danielle offered. "Are you sure?" I asked her. "Yes, 100% sure," she smiled. I smiled back at her and headed upstairs.

After getting ready I said goodbye to the girls, of course Aspen was upset that she couldn't go with me. I thanked Danielle again and walked out the door. 

"I'm Maya Payne here to see Liam Payne," I told the nurse. She smiled and nodded at me. "Yes, he has been waiting for you." She lead me down a hallway and knocked on a closed door. My heart dropped to my stomach when he opened the door. A sudden urge to hug him and cry came over me and that exactly what I did.
