Mohamed Ould Slahi is the writer of this book. He is a Mauritanian muslim who left for Germany for higher studies in the early 90's. He graduated with a Computer Engineering Degree. He is also a Hafidh of Quran.

He went from a place of comfort in his university to fight for the freedom of the Afghani against the Soviet Union. After that he went back to finish his studies.

This book affected me a lot but it was the conclusion of the book. Guantanamo is the place where Mohamed Spent most of his prison time. Which was unjustified in the first place.

On being released after years of being locked up. His own Guards accepted Islam and went to visit him in his home town.

And he says he forgives all that was done to him.

Furthermore this is what Islam teaches us to forgive after much injustice is being done to us. After enduring 14 years of unjust treatment.

He chose to forgive them all. That is when it dawned on me. That is who he is. No matter how much pain or tribulation they put him through. He chose to forgive them.

That is what I find most inspiring about is Brother Mohamed Ould Slahi.
