There is something mentally relaxing about getting lost in your thoughts. Sometimes the thoughts are horrible and you get lost in grief, but even then it's relieving to escape from reality.

Maggie wakes up with her head pounding. She tries to concentrate on what she's seeing but a blurry vision of a picture covered ceiling is the best she can do. Even tho she can't see what is on the pictures, she immediately knows....Jules.
By the time she gets conscious of what is happening, she notices that she has her arm wrapped around something...someone, wait what?! Someone?!

She flinches and immediately sits up. When she fully opens her eyes, she's relieved by the sight of Juliet's softly tanned frame resting in the twin sized bed. She scans the room to try and play back the night before, her eyes go back to Juliet, the thin lavender printed blanket halfway spread over her body. Her wavy blonde hair in the same two braids as last night, only now messy with strings of hair that fell out resting on the pillow beneath her head. Even though Maggie and Juliet have had tons of sleepovers in the past, Maggie never seems to get over the sight of her best friend sleeping.

Maggie let's out a big yawn and feels all the memories from the night before rush through her head in a dizzy blur. She closes her eyes to stop the dizziness and by her surprise it actually works. She remembers taking a pill and immediately knows. Alen, Motherfucker.

Alen knows that Maggie can't handle pills. But Maggie knows that alen loves seeing her high. When she's high she says and does the most random shit, it's also easy to convince Maggie to do stuff when she's high.

One time Alen told her to walk over to someone's table at the diner, take the cherry out of their milkshake and eat it in front of them. And guess what? She didn't even hesitate. The friend group has labelled Maggie as fearless. They know that Maggie has only a few big fears that really bug her but when she's high those fears fade away. Maggie is also very competitive. She's always up for a challenge so when you dare her to do something, she won't think twice.

Juliet's eyes flutter open. When she sees Maggie's frame sitting on the bed next to her, she brushes away the hairs that were covering her sight of the curly headed girl. She looks up at Maggie with awe and adjusts her body on the mattress. Maggie is way too deep gone in her thoughts to notice that Juliet had woken up.

Juliet pushes herself to sit up with her arms. That's when Maggie turns her head to look at Juliet, she gives her a warm smile. "Morning Jules." "Good morning Mags." Maggie feels something tickling her shoulder and a second after she sees blonde hairs drape all over her. Juliet leans the side of her head on Maggie's shoulder and adjusts her position to get comfortable.

Just outside the window they hear birds chirping, it's something that makes Juliet happy.
She loves getting up early in the morning to paint and watch the sunrise on the roof. She sees the sky as a big canvas. When the sun rises, the canvas slowly covers in beautiful warm tones. She loves seeing the world in her artistic way, it's her own little thing.

While Juliet is in her beautiful rosey thoughts, Maggie can't stand the fact that one of the pictures on Juliet's ceiling isn't lined up with the one next to it. It makes her mad, frustrated. her mind is everywhere except where she wants it to be.
She hates herself for it. She hates that her brain works like that and she hates that she can't do anything about it.

Maggie has some real issues, she just doesn't express them. Her friends know that something is wrong but they don't even dare to talk about it. They know that Maggie is tough. So when you hit her with the wrong thing, she can burst out. And there is a BIG difference between bursting out with anger and bursting out with sadness.

The last time Maggie had actually shown her sadness, her dad told her she belonged in a psychiatric hospital.

Everyone says that people always have a reason to be who they are. People have reasons to be sad, and parents have reasons to be strict. But Maggie's dad has no reason to be who he is. With a first look everyone would say that it's because Maggie's mother 'Samantha Lee' passed away and that her dad "Jacob Lee" is just broken. But no, Jacob has always been a pathetic asshole who couldn't handle that Maggie was happy.

Maggie was young when her mother passed away.
Of course she was absolutely devastated, but because she was young, she didn't really understand how it happened and that really softened the pain.
When Samantha was sick in the hospital, Maggie wasn't told anything. The nurses didn't even try to make up a story for her. So when Samantha passed, Maggie was left feeling a bit less worse then everyone else.

Kids seem to get over sad experiences faster than grown ups, and you could definitely notice that between Maggie and Jacob. The girl got over it after two years while Jacob was still grieving four years later. Jacob couldn't stand seeing Margaret happy while he felt like shit. So he had to make her feel the same way as him, and he did everything to succeed.

And he did. He succeeded.
