I didn't see that coming.

Maggie feels her arms shiver as she bites the inner side of her cheek, afraid. She's able to protect herself, but she doesn't know from who, that's what scares her. She can't do anything, the footsteps seem to be close to her and she can't just stand up and run away. It's too late for that.

She slowly sits up and opens her eyes, immediately feeling stupid because she obviously can't see anything in the dark. She slowly turns her head, hoping to see at least a silhouette of who is walking up to her.

Nothing. She just hears the footsteps getting closer and closer until, they are next to her. Maggie scoots to the side, trying to get away from whoever is standing right next to her.

By her surprise, the person sits next to her. She turns her head to the side with a confused look on her face. The bold girl she is, she says "Aren't you gonna kill me?" She hears a deep voice respond. "Not yet, maybe if you'll get on my nerves though."

She doesn't know what to do or say. She can't see who she's talking to and it creeps her out. "Why would I get on your nerves?" She plops out, it's the first thing that came to her mind and she instantly regrets asking.

"You tend to get on my nerves a lot." The voice responds.

Suddenly, something in her head clicks. The deep voice, knowing exactly where she is, getting on the nerves of this person, she knows exactly who the voice is.

Alen. "You asshole, i thought I was gonna get killed!"
Maggie suddenly exclaims. "Very disappointing, I know I know." Alen answers right back at her to cut off her yelling. "Why are you here? How did you know I was here?" Maggie questions a bit quickly.
"Why are you here is the question, Margaret Lee."
She hates it when he calls her by her full name, he knows she hates it and that's why he loves it.

"You know it's not safe to be here alone at night, Maggie." He continues. "Well it didn't go very well at home-" Maggie begins. "I know." He cuts her off as he lays down in the grass. "And Juliet came and acted like I needed help or something. I don't need help, I'm not weak." Maggie continues explaining. "Letting people help you doesn't make you weak." Alen argues.

"Are you just here to argue with me?" Maggie sighs.
" I'm here to make sure you're safe." He answers shortly. She lets out a frustrated chuckle. "Since when do you care about me being safe?"
Alen looks at her confused "Woah, what? Maggie I've basically always cared about you. I don't know what you're talking about."

Maggie rests her face in her hands. "Can we get out of here?..." she finally answers. It's not the answer Alen was hoping for though. "Yeah, come on." He states as he stands up from his spot in the grass.

As soon as Maggie followed him by standing up, Alen begins questioning. "What happened with Juliet? She seemed upset when she called me. Besides, she never calls me." Maggie plays with her rings and begins explaining what happened.

After about 30 minutes of walking they get to the centre of town. "Are you gonna be cool at home or is it not safe yet?" Alen questions as he keeps walking. "I'll be fine." Maggie says. She's trying hard for it to sound true, but she knows that's not gonna work with Alen. Alen basically smells it when people are lying.

"Lies." He claims shortly as response. "But-" Maggie tries to argue back before he cuts her off. "You're sleeping over at my house and you're gonna use the house phone to call Juliet and apologise. "First of all, I don't have to do what you tell me to. Second of all, why do I have to apologise?" Maggie plops out with a bitchy tone.

"Why don't you keep your little bratty mouth shut, good idea? I just saved your life over there. You should be grateful I'm not letting you go back to your own house." Alen says, getting angry with her. Maggie decides to just go with it, she knows this is better for her. She just doesn't want people to think she needs help.

They walk to Alen's house in complete silence. They both know from each other that if one of them would say something stupid right now, the other would flip out.

Alen walks through his front yard, towards the door of his house. He opens it quietly and gestures for Maggie to come inside.  Maggie hops over to the door and gets in with as little sound possible.

Alen follows and closes the door behind them.
Maggie knows the house as her second home, since she's been coming there for about 14 years. As she walks up the stairs she hears alen whisper something. She turns her head to look at him and flashes him a questioning look.

Alen points at his room and Maggie enters it. When Alen is there too he closes the door and let's out a deep breath. "Are you alright?" Maggie tilts her head slightly. "Yeah I'm fine, I believe my parents are gone. I don't know where tho, doesn't matter." Alen replies as he rubs his neck.

"Alright, I'll sleep on a mattress on the floor." Maggie offers. "Yeah, no way I'm sleeping on the floor." Alen chuckles and gets an eye roll from Maggie back.

Maggie drags the mattress off of Sarah's bed and lays it down on Alen's floor. She throws a pillow and a blanket on the mattress and kicks her shoes off.

Alen lays down in his bed and pulls the covers over himself. Maggie follows and throws a blanket over herself. They close their eyes and mumble "night" at the same time before they drift off to sleep.
