Dawn wakes up in the morning by her little brother running around their shared bedroom. She lets out a groan as she grabs a pillow to throw at him. Dawn's little brothers Pathan and Ethan are 6 year old twins and they are a pain in the ass.
Dawn has to share her bedroom with Ethan, which is even worse because he's the hyper one. Pathan can be pretty calm but overall, annoying. Right before Dawn wants to throw the pillow at Ethan, her mom runs up the staircase. "Don't fight guys, please. And be quick Ethan, you have to be ready in 10 minutes." Dawn's mother 'Carol' sputters out in a stressed tone as she prowls around the second floor of the small sized family house.
"She was gonna throw the pillow at me momma!" Ethan cries out. "I was totally not going to throw the pillow at him, mom." Dawn argues in a sarcastic and uncaring tone as she stands up from her bed. "I don't care, you both get ready right now." Carol cuts them off with an irritated tone. "Hey I don't have to get ready I'm not coming with you guys." Dawn states. "Right, right, sorry Sweetie." Carol says as she places her palm on her forehead.
Dawn looks in the dusty mirror that's hanging on the wall and grabs a hair tie. Ethan runs out the room, on his way to the bathroom. Dawn grabs her blond curls and ties them together with the hair tie she got, creating something sort of a bun. Some strands hang in front of her face. She shrugs and runs downstairs.
She jogs into the kitchen and hears the house phone go off. She reaches out and grabs it. "Hello, Watson house. How can I help you?" Dawn sputters out rushed as she pours milk into a bowl. "Yeah I realised that it's the Watson's house." Joey replies from the other side of the line. A smile appears on Dawn's face as soon as she hears his voice. "Hey Joe, what's crackin'?" Dawn smiles to herself as she mixes in cereal with the milk.
"Have you heard what happened last night with Jules and Mags?" Joey questions, needing to let Dawn know. "No, I haven't. What happened?" Dawn says as her smile fades into a questionable look. "Maggie's dad was drunk once again and when Juliet wanted to help her, Maggie lashed out to her and ran away." Joey answers her question. "What? Is Maggie back at home again?" Dawn worries.
"She stayed over at Alen's house so she didn't have to go back to her own house." Joey calms her nerves "okay, and is Jules okay?" Dawn continues asking. "I haven't heard from her yet, we should talk to her. Is it okay if I come to your crib?" Joey asks for permission.
"Yes, come to my house in 20 minutes and we'll go to Jules' house. Good?" Dawn plans out. "Yes great okay, see you later Dawn." Joey puts the phone back on the stand and runs upstairs.
Joey smiles to himself as he runs in his room and turns his record player on. He pulls some clothes out of his closet as 'immigrant song' by Led zeppelin blasts through the house. Joey is a big fan of rock, his sister in the other hand isn't.
"Turn down the freaking music Joey!" Olivia yells from her room. Joey runs to his record player and turns down the volume of the music as he stumbles to put on his pants. He zips up his pants and runs downstairs. Getting there, he steps in his shoes and runs out the door.
Head down, hands shaking. Maggie walks over the side walk, she just left Alen's house. She's on her way to Jules' house. Shes pissed at herself. She shouldn't have lashed out to Juliet like that, that's not fair. Juliet wanted to help Maggie and she knows that all too well. But Maggie doesn't want help. It makes her seem weak, she's an independent woman and she doesn't need help. At least, that's what she tells herself.
Juliet is reading a book before she sees Maggie walking up the front law of her house. She puts her book away and runs to the front door as fast as she can. She stands still for a moment before opening the door. Maggie plays with the self made ring on her finger before quickly looking up when Juliet opens the door. They look at each other for a moment. There is an understanding.
"It's ok-" Juliet begins before Maggie cuts her off. "Don't. It's not okay. I shouldn't have lashed out to you like that. I ran away because i don't want to hurt you, Jules." Juliet tilts her head slightly as she sees a scar on Maggie's face. She hadn't noticed it yesterday. Without saying anything, Juliet pulls Maggie inside and hugs her tightly. Maggie slowly wraps her arms around her and nuzzles her face in the crook of Jules' neck.
Jules leans her chin on the top of Maggie's head and kisses it. Maggie is conscious of what Juliet did, but she likes it. She doesn't know why, it's a feeling she hasn't experienced before. It's a quite normal thing, her mom uses to do it. But it feels different when one of her friends does it, not just one of her friends. Her best friend . Juliet Flores kissed the top of her head.
Is that over the line? Or should she be less dramatic? "It's just a head kiss Margaret, nothing more." She thinks. Although, friends don't normally do that. She's curious and doesn't know why she has never felt this feeling. It's just a fucking head kiss Margaret, it's a head kiss from Juliet.
"Do that again.." Maggie whispers. Juliet slightly pulls away and lifts her chin up. Her expression looks curious, shocked by herself and nervous all at once. She presses her lips to Maggie's forehead for a full 5 seconds before she slowly loosens her grip on Maggie.
