Two years has past for Lyra at Hogwarts, she still felt peacefully happy here.
Home.
Of course she had her ups and downs, but she didn't let them ruin her. The couple adventures she went through with her friends made their bond even stronger.
Now she was hoping for one year of peace, no weird stones, no secret toilets or chambers.Just a year at Hogwarts as normal student, but she wasn't normal, that was the problem. Her ability to sense the surroundings got stronger and she had more control over it. At first it was so overwhelming for her at Hogwarts, so many people, so many emotions and things happening. But as the time went on she learn how to control it and shut a piece of her gift down to be able of having a liveable life, without migraines and voices in her head.
Which wasn't very helpful with school after all, even though she wasn't at top of her class all of her teachers adored her. She did okay and 'had talent' as said Lockhart last year. Because he was the one to say it the girl wasn't sure if it was true of just him trying to be a good person. Even she could've been a better teacher.
Harry helped her a lot with the planning of her work and actually getting it done, because she as from herself wasn't bad a learning new stuff, the point was that her attention span for school wasn't long and she was too lazy to keep her work organised. She was never taught how to do it, so Harry was very helpful with his knowledge from the muggle school.
She enjoyed spending time with him, sometimes even too much. He looked at her always with a pleasant look of comfort. She knew he would listen to her as no one ever would, and not only he listened but actually understood. Binding because of trauma they went through was their favourite thing, they constantly made jokes about their dead parents or other family members, or how their family members abused them mentally in their childhood.
Those family member got to an even worse form of abuse, than just mentally, when they heard about Lyra helping Harry to escape from the one whose shall not be named. The marks on her skin stayed bloody red the whole summer, mostly because of her uncle opening the wounds everyday all over again.
Everyday she thought about escaping but she couldn't. They put a spell on her right after she came home so they knew exactly where she was at every time. Cassandra, her cousin, tried to comfort her somehow, but she didn't know what her parents did to Lyra. She only assumed she was feeling miserable because of what they were telling her the whole time. That's why Lyra also didn't leave her room for almost nothing. She snuck out in the night or asked the elf's to get her some food, the nights were also the only times she went to the toilet. That routine caused her to mess up her sleep schedule completely. The girl wanted so bad to just leave and live with the Weasley's, but she couldn't nor had the strength to do so.
She secretly corresponded with Harry and her other friends through owl mail, till her uncle found out she told the elf's to send the letters for her from the owlerly and banned the elf's from taking any orders from Lyra.
The letters she wrote for Harry contained also other letter for her other two friends, Ron and Hermione. Harry would then attach them to his mail for his friends.
On one of the walls in her room she hung a self made calendar, counting off days till she went back to Hogwarts. She didn't expect to miss it so bad, like she always wanted to go there and be someone, be herself, but now that she paid the price for that she never wanted to come back to the Malfoy's.
The day and night before leaving to go back to school she didn't sleep at all. She would sit on her bed and stare at the wall or stare outside her window at the half dead garden.
While getting on the train she couldn't just go and sit with her friends, her aunt and uncle made her sit with Draco, Cassandra and the rest of the Slytherins. Because that's where she belonged, according to them. Only after the train disappeared from the platform she could move, her cousins swore to not tell their parents about her leaving. Honestly they didn't care much with who she sat, mostly because Cassandra also took of to her own friend group made out of other Slytherins.
