I knew that Camilo had left sometime after I had fallen asleep. I felt bad for leaving but I couldn't stand everyone's thoughts.

'Antonio's Gift is useless'

'This family gets way too much hype'

'Ayla is just like her father; a backstabbing son of a bitch'

Part of me wished I had stayed for Antonio's sake but I knew he didn't mind and all of the attention was on him anyway.

CAMILO POV

Bryn looked so pretty last night. Her hair was braided back, Isabela made her a flower crown. The colours of the crown complimented her tanned skin. Oh, I'm so happy that I can tell someone and not everyone needs to know. Ayla is perfect for telling secrets too. She just reads my mind and taps in morse code for replies. I do feel bad using her Gift like that but I know she enjoys it.

A rap hit my door and I jumped up to see who it was. Turning the knob and opening the door I saw Mirabel and Ayla.

"What are you two doing?"

"Slumber party?" They asked in unison. Saying the words like we were two again. The three of us have this little party every year. There is no meaning behind it, we just do it so the three of us can hang out without getting in trouble. Abuela tries to keep Ayla and I away from Mirabel all because she doesn't have a Gift. Do her tactics work well? No, we still manage to sneak around and hang out.

"Yes! Whos room?"

"We were thinking Mirabel's, just like old times." We hadn't done our little party in the nursery since we were ten as that was when Antonio was born and was put in the nursery with Mirable, so we'd just switch between Ayla and my room. Usually, it was in Ayla's as her's has more space to do things and also looks cooler. Mine is just full of mirrors, it's honestly kind of annoying. I wake up. Boom. I'm looking in a mirror. I turn my head. Poof. There I am.

"Alright, I'll grab my stuff, someone should probably tell Dolores so she doesn't get mad at us when we're being loud."

"I got it, I gotta go that way anyway to get my stuff out of my room too." Ayla's room was opposite of mine. When we were first moved into our rooms we were hoping that Casita would put our rooms next to each other but instead Abuela requested that our rooms not be near each other so we wouldn't always be together. Although our rooms are on different sides of the house Ayla and I are still inseparable. We both know Mirabel feels left out as it used to be the three of us but Abuela doesn't ever let us be together unless it's a family thing. That's why we do our party thing is so we can sneak around behind Abuela's back and the three of us cab=n hang out and have fun.

We all went our separate ways until lunch. The three of us sat where we usually do. Ayla to my left and Mirabel across from Ayla.

I nudged Ayla with my elbow. 'Tell Mirabel to meet in your room after lunch, we gotta figure out how to get our stuff to her room.'

drag-drag-drag (O) drag-tap-drag (K).

"Hey, Mirabel. Wanna hang out in my room after we're done eating?"

"Sure!" I knew that if we did it right it would look like just Ayla and Mirabel were hanging out.

After lunch, I waited for the girls to go to Ayla's room and Mirabel unnoticed. I shifted into Mirabel and walked over to Ayla's room. Once the door was shut behind me I changed back to myself.

"Jeez took you long enough." Mirabel laughed. I rolled my eyes and walked deeper into Ayla's room. Her room was painted with tones of dark greens. Dark red florals and leaves covered her walls. The area they were sitting in was filled with books and drawings. There were couches and chairs. It was overall just a comfortable place to be. Ayla always had candles lit to make the area smell nice.

If you walked farther into her room past the lounge area was a beautifully tiled bathroom and just off the bathroom was her bedroom. Her sleeping quarters were the only 'room' inside her room that had a different colour pallet, instead of the greens and deep reds her bedroom was a royal red with gold accents.

"You can sit, you know." Ayla gestured to the empty spots. I sat in a soft armchair, setting the throw pillow in my lap.

"Alright so how are we going to sneak around Abuela?" Mirabel asked.

"I was thinking we say that Mirabel and I are sleeping in her room and then Camilo sneaks in a little later," Ayla said, her eyes moving between Mirabel and me.

"That could work," I said. "Or I could shift into Ayla and go into Mirabel's room before she does and then if anyone asks Ayla and say she left to get some water or something,"

"I like that. That could work, and at least if Ayla is caught then it's her not you trying to forge her voice. You do a terrible Ayla impression by the way."

"Yeah, yeah shut up." Mirabel and I laughed.

"What time then, Cam? We gotta plan this right to it's not like, you walk into her room and then I do you got to be a least ten-fifteen minutes before." Ayla does have a point.

"I'll let you know. I'll throw a rock or something at your door as I'm leaving and then you can watch and then come over."

"Alright, that works." The three of us talked for a while longer before I was called to go help my dad, and it was Ayla's scheduled time for reading others' minds. It was a thing she did, she'd go sit at a table in the town square and people would pay her a dollar to see what they or someone else was thinking. It was like fortune-telling.

Again I am open to any suggestions. Also, I am aware that this is more about Camilo and Ayla right now but after the next chapter or two, Bryn will be mentioned a bit more.
