Michael:
"I remember the day you told me you were leaving...I remember the make-up running down your face"
You stood on one side of the living room while Michael stood on the other. You had two bags next to your feet. Michael had a hurt and angry expression on his face, and your mascara was ran like strips down your cheeks.
"Please don't," Michael begged, hands fisted.
"Why? What do I have here anymore?"
"ME! YOU HAVE ME DAMMIT! Someone who loves you and thinks about you everyday and wants you!"
You had begun to weep and put your face in your hands. "That's not enough, Michael. You don't show it, you don't tell me. All you do is leave everyday and not come back until late. I'm not living in the shadow of a hope you'll come around someday. I'm not." And with that, you grabbed your bags and walked to the door.
"I love you." Michael said.
You nodded your head and the fingers clutched into he bag tensed. Don't, you told yourself. Don't give in. Walk out. And you did, the door closed with a quiet click behind you............
Now, you sat next to Michael a year later for Ashton's dinner. And when he looked at you he swore he could see the mascara running down your face.Calum:
"Are you somewhere feeling lonely even though he's right beside you? When he says those words that hurt you, do you read the ones I wrote you?""God you can't do anything right can you?!" Your boyfriend shouted at you as you dropped to your knees and to pick up the bowl you had dropped. You tried to not flinch when he slapped you but you did and the bowl just slipped. "I'm leaving. I may not even fucking come back. Lets see where you go without me."
You walked into the bedroom after he slammed the door and dug under your bed until you found your 'Memories' box. You pushed things around until you found it: Fireworks, and you and Calum at the top of the Ferris Wheel at that right moment.
You flipped it over and saw the writing on the back...so familiar. 'One year strong baby. I can't believe I am so lucky to have such a beautiful girl right behind me through this journey. I love you so much and I know we'll be forever. Always and forever.' You closed our eyes and tears streamed down your face. You reached for your cell phone and went through until you found the Cs. "
Hi," Calum answered, already knowing it'd be you.
"Hi. I-uh..."
"Did he hit you again?"
"Yes."
"Damn, Y/N you need to..."
"Can you just sing to me, Calum? Our song?"
"Why?"
"I need it." And deep down, you knew he needed and wanted this too. "You call me up...it's like a broken record, saying that your heart hurts..." You just laid there and listened to those oh so familiar words.Ashton: "The pictures that you sent me they're still living in my phone I'll admit I like to see them, I'll admit I feel alone...and all my friends keep asking why I'm not around"
Ashton slumped in his bed, pillow laid on his stomach.
"Dude, we're going out. Wanna come?" Michael asked after he knocked on his door.
"Nah, I'm fine."
Michael's face fell. "C'mon, you never come out anymore."
"I just...I'm tired."
"Okay, sure. Bring you back something." Ashton waited until he heard the front door close before turning out his lights. He unlocked his phone and went to his photos. At the very top of the camera roll, he pressed on one photo of you and him at the beach. A normal selfie but to him, it was so much more. You were kissing his cheek and he remembers when he smiled like that. He moved his thumb, looking at each photo of you or of you and him and he felt his face become wet. Where were you now? Were you just as lonely and broken as he was? He hoped not. Ashton internally hoped you were with someone that made you smile the way he used to. But miles away, in a dark bedroom similar to his, you laid in your bed, scrolling through your Facebook photos of you and Ashton......with tear stained cheeks.Luke: "Sometimes I start to wonder, was it just a lie? If what we had was real, how could you be fine? 'Cause I'm not fine at all"
It was the first party Luke had attended since the break up. It was a small gathering for Michael's celebration for finding Daniel again...but it was really an excuse to have a party. You sat and laughed with some of your friends. You glanced over at Luke and saw his tense jaw and watering eyes.
"I'll be right back," you said to them. You went over to him and asked if you could talk to him. In Michael's bedroom, you sat on the bed and Luke began to pace. "What's wrong, Luke?"
"You."
"What are you-"
"How are you so damned happy? I'm breaking! I am broken! It takes effort just to move my face to make any expression except a frown and here you are smiling and all happy-go-lucky!"
"I don't understand why you're angry I moved on."
"I love you! I still do! You still make me crazy and I thought you would be the same! DID WE MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU?" He shouted. You stood up and cradled his face in your hands. "Luke, I'm not fine either. I never will be. You were my first everything. My first love. I've his been trying to move on but I just..." You trailed off and began to weep. Luke brought you into his arms and held you tight. You wept on his shoulder and kissed his neck.
"I'm so broken too, and I didn't know you were hurting so badly," you whispered. Luke continued to hold you while you cried. He didn't want to let you go...not again. He knew he couldn't handle letting you go again.
