The police are at my house again, they're sitting at the table with my mum having a serious conversation about my dad. I don't care. I go upstairs to my room, open my laptop and start writing.
Hours later I hear my mum, "hey An, could you could down here please?" It wasn't really a question but I answered anyway, "sure, whatever." I closed my laptop and slouched down the stairs to see my mum at the table, she patted the seat next to her in an invitation to sit down, I took the chair across from her and looked at her. "So, I have some good news An!" I silently stared at her, waiting for her to continue, she sighed, "we're no longer suspects in Paul's case!" She announced, "and, with a little persuasion I'm now investigating his case!" I smiled at her, I had no idea why a private detective whose husband had just been murdered would want to investigate who murdered him, but I was happy to no longer be investigated as a possible suspect of my dad's murder, as well as Bridget's and Brianna's murder. Bridget was the old lady who owned the bookshop across from our house, she was the one who took me to find a publisher to publish my book, she was also the only one who had supported my dream. Brianna was my ex-bestfriend who had always criticised my love of books, it was lucky I was a quiet child and didn't talk about them much otherwise the police would be conviced that I was the serial killer they were looking for. My mum looked at me, "oh, Annie. Are you sure you're okay? I know it's hard for you." My smile faded as I looked away, "I really am fine mum, don't worry about me" I reassured her, "okay then..." she said sounding hesitant, "how was school?" I looked back up at her, "fine I guess" I quickly changed the subject, "so what's for dinner?" Her eyes widened, "oh no, I forgot! How about we order pizza, your dad doesnt have to... know" she looked sad when she remembered that my dad was dead and wouldn't ever know what we had for dinner, "pizza sounds great mum."
