Chapter 11: Back Home To Texas
A month later, school was out. Megan still had to be homeschooled. Katie's graduation is coming up, but first. Kevin and Dani were going back to Dallas, Texas to visit family as a surprise for Megan because maybe she was feeling homesick. Joe and Nick were also tagging along with them.
Kevin's Inner Monologue
Its been a while since Dani, Megan and I visited our home in Texas. Which Megan and I called the Jonas Family Compound. The JONAS world tour is about to start. We gave our grandparents the keys to our house so they can take care of it while we live in Jersey. So we wanted to spend some quality with them before tour starts. Nick also might be coming to Texas as well. Anytime we actually get to hang out as a full family means a lot to me.
Kevin: hellooooo, we are home!
Grandma: hey! Good to see ya guys! Welcome home! *hugs each of them*
Megan: hi Grandpa, how are you doing?
Grandpa: I'm doing fine pumpkin
Grandma: I just put out some snacks for you guys
Kevin: oh my god I am so hungry, and I got to pee so bad *leaves with the bags and his grandfather*
Grandma: *yells to Kevin* that's how your father use to greet me all the time
Dani: really?
Grandma: he would say "hi I love you, I gotta go use the bathroom"
Megan: sounds like my dad
The girls giggle and after the two got ready and settled in.
Dani, Kevin and Megan had sat down to eat and gotten to talk to the grandparents.
Megan: it's so weird to be back home, it doesn't even feel like home anymore
Dani: well we have been away for 2 years
Grandma: well I'm glad you guys are home
Kevin: I was talking to Dani's family actually and they were like "oh you're going to your parents house" and then I was like wait, it's my house too
Megan: daddy would call this the Jonas Compound
Kevin Inner Monologue
The Jonas Compound is right outside of Dallas, it's very Texas. You know big houses, decorated in leather, there's some animal heads. When you come here, everything is taken care of, you got all the stuff you need, pool, so really it's such a good place to go when we need some time off, plus it feels like home and it's the only thing that keeps me grounded.
Dani: so are we going to have family dinner tonight
Grandma: yeah I think we are going to grill, have people come over
Kevin Inner Monologue
It is so good to see my grandparents again, especially my grandfather. I really wanted to see him and spend sometime with him. This time it means even more with everything going on with his health.
Megan was on her phone inviting Kristy and Lily over while Kevin was talking to his grandfather about grandkids.
Kevin: enough about me, what's wrong with you
Grandpa: a whole lot, I'm doing good. I got a good nurse
Grandma smiled at him.
Megan Inner Monologue
Papa was diagnosed with cancer on the liver. It's really hard on Kevin mostly because I know it really hits home for him because they're really close and he doesn't want to lose another important figure in his life, its bad enough we lost both of our parents, it's going to kill him even more if something happens to our grandfather.
Kevin: you know Mama I have to say, it takes a lot to deal with something like this. I applaud you
Grandma: it does
Kevin: because I know probably you feel sometimes like you're on your own
Grandma: yeah *nervous chuckle* its hard
Grandpa: when I'm healthy it takes a lot for her
Kevin: well we all know that Papa you're not a handful at all
They all laugh and Kevin said.
Kevin: that's what I say to Danielle, you know who you married, I can't help you there
Grandpa: you know it's not tho
Kevin: yeah...
Kevin's Inner Monologue
My grandfather is one of the funniest most amazing people I know, he maybe a little strict, but I wouldn't love him any other way.
The grandfather made a joke about something that made them laugh. Just then their was a knock on the door. A long time friend of Kevin appeared, it was Nick, it wasn't Joe either.
Kevin: their he is! I saw him dancing
The girls giggle as he opened the door and hugged his long time friend Cavanaugh.
Megan: Cavanaugh!
Cavanaugh: little bit!
Megan jumped in his arm and Cavanaugh kissed her forehead.
Cavanaugh: *puts her down* look at you, got so big
Megan: I miss you!
Cavanaugh: you haven't been giving your big brother a hard time have you
Megan: maybe...
Cavanaugh: Megan...
Megan: oh come on, you should know me by now
Cavanaugh: *raise eyebrow at Kevin*
Kevin: she got kicked out of school
Cavanaugh: *smack her butt* how did you manage that
Megan: ow! That hurts! *rubs and shrugs* I don't know
Cavanaugh: you will just never learn huh little bit
Megan: *sticks tongue* but it's okay, I'm being homeschooled now, and I got a lot of catching up to do over the summer.
Cavanaugh: good, but it's good to see ya buddy! We got a lot of catching up to do!
Kevin: we sure do old friend
More people started showing, friends of the family, Kristy and Lily.
Kevin: hey Bob!
Kevin's Inner Monologue
Bob is a family and friend of mother and father's. He's been a part of my life since I was born, he really is a spiritual mentor for my family.
Megan hugged Bob as well.
Bob: hey kiddo, how you doing?
Megan: I'm doing okay
Bob: I've been praying for you
Megan: I know
Bob: hang in their cub, everything will be okay *kiss her forehead*
Megan smiled up at him and hugged him and he hugged her back before sitting back down with her friends. Kevin and Dani wanted to speak with him privately about wanting to have kids and start a family.
