A little extra

"Hey! Hello. I've been waiting for ages." The man at the bar said. You ignored them and grabbed the next load of drinks for your tray. Fangtasia had been slammed the last few days and you were starting to consider quitting. Nowhere paid as well, but you wouldn't have to deal with vampires and their groupies.

"My friend said they've been waiting. So what're you going to do about it?" A vampire approached you and blocked your way out from behind the bar.

"I'm sorry. None of us are able to take drink orders right now. Once I've delivered these drinks I can help." You said with a calm voice and the sweetest smile you could muster. This didn't ease the vampire's mood. They grabbed at you, causing you to drop the tray of drinks with such a loud clatter that several people looked over.

"Some humans need putting in their place." The vampire said as they turned you in their arms and their fangs extended. They jerked back and let go of you suddenly. Turning you saw Pam who looked furious.

"Now (Y/N) didn't give you permission to do that. It is also against the rules to feed off our staff. So you and your little friend can leave." Pam said as she let go of the vampire. They eyed you for a moment and you glanced around. People nearby had stopped to stare and see what was going to happen next.

"I don't care. That one offended my friend." The vampire seethed and went to lurch over the bar, past Pam and at you. A hand gripped tightly around their neck, squeezing until they made a dreadful wheezing sound.

"Pam said you had to leave. So I would leave before I send your friend out of here with a bag of your bits and pieces." Eric said calmly. He let the vampire go and you watched as Pam followed them and their human friend out.

"You didn't have to do that." You said quietly as Eric helped you pick up the smashed glasses and bottles behind the bar.

"Nonsense. I couldn't leave you there to fend for yourself." He smiled at you and you found yourself smiling back. You did have the forethought to point out that Pam could have handled it but that thought was shaken loose when he reached out to swipe a splatter of Tru-blood from your face. Reaching down to pick up the last of the broken glass you asked;

"Why did you jump in? Normally you only reserve that kind of thing for Soo..." You trailed off and realised you were saying what you'd normally think in your head outloud and glanced up at him.

"I just want to be friends. Plus a little extra. Also, I love you." He smiled when you stared at him in surprise and watched him walk away to talk to Pam. Of all the things you thought he'd say you had never expected him to say that.
