When you'd received the invitation to dinner, there weren't many ways you could say no. Or rather, there were few ways you could say no without offending the vampire who had invited you. Having arrived and been led to the dining room you froze.
There was no food out, no plates down. Only drinks of what was clearly blood in the hands of the vampires at the table. Eric caught your eye as you lingered in the doorway. "Great, i'm probably the meal." You whispered to yourself. A few chuckles echoed around the room and Eric raised his eyebrows as you were led to the seat beside him.
"Be careful what you say, you might give me ideas." He muttered and you scoffed, glaring at him.
"Mortals are always more fun with some spirit." The vampire at the head of the table said as he raised a toast to Eric. Eric mimicked him, looking your way as he took a sip. The dinner was awkward. It was becoming clearer and clearer if Eric hadn't known you, you probably wouldn't have left the dinner. A few of the other vampires made comments about your scent. When Eric revealed he had brought along several people willing to share their blood with vampires, the focus was shifted from you. At one point you tried to slip out of the room, being stopped by a vampire who had been watching you over the table and waited until the mea was done to approach.
"It's getting late, what do you say we leave. I can give you a lift home." Eric offered. You rolled your eyes and looked his way, spotting several vampires who had their eye on you as you turned to him.
"Fine." You agreed reluctantly. You'd rather risk Eric than some random vampires you didn't know. He smirked down at you as he placed a hand on the small of your back and led you out towards the driveway.
"You do have a habit of getting into trouble." Eric said with a chuckle as he opened his car door to let you in.
"Well, it's hard to avoid trouble in this town. It tends to be pretty good and hunting humans." You answered sarcastically as he got into the drivers side. He laughed and nodded.
"You're not wrong." He muttered as he pulled out of the drive. "It's fun too."
