"The demon under your bed."
He said without skipping a beat. Even this demon's voice was attractive, what the hell.
"Wait, what?" I snapped out of it and glared at him. I wouldn't simply believe that he was 'The demon under my bed', I was too old for fantasies as such.
"Please give me a more sensible answer. Are you a cosplayer or what? If so, you did a great job now get out of my house." I tried to act intimidating although my legs were shaking in fear.
The man did nothing but smile innocently. He took a step forward and I took a step back. He took another step forward and I kept backing up until I hit a wall. "Shit."
"D-don't come any closer or I'll shout." I said in a warning tone but he ignored me and stopped a foot away from me.
"Ah, no one's gonna see or hear me except for you, so scream as loud as you want." He raised his hands towards my face. I squeezed my eyes shut thinking he was going to strangle me to death or something but it never came. So I opened my eyes and they grew in shock to see that his hand had penetrated through my face.
"Is this not enough to prove that I'm a demon, Nera Spencer?" He smiled mischievously.
I couldn't say anything back. I just stood their mesmerized by this beautiful demon. Surely, he was even more angelic up close. His silver eyes glistened in the dark as he backed away. He really was not a human alright.
"Why can't anyone else see you?'" I asked once I found my voice back to clear up with this whole 'demon' thing.
I grew up thinking they were mythical creatures like any other normal human would but who knew they existed in this day and age. It only made sense that I knew nothing about demons.
"Cause' I'm the demon under your bed."
"Huh?" I slowly blinked with that unhelpful answer.
"Everyone has a demon under their bed, don't they?" He ruffled his hair.
"They do?" I was so confused. He spoke as if they were common facts.
"You're telling me humans don't know that they have demons under their beds?" The way his stood totally baffled for a second made me think whether I really was the dense one there.
"Angelic boy, enlighten me." I wiped the sweat off my astounded face.
At that point I couldn't really keep up with what the actual hell was going on. As much as crazy as it sounds, a so called demon emerged from under my bed that no one else other than I could see and declared himself as 'The demon under my bed'. A beautiful demon indeed, if I may add.
"First of all, my name is Lyle Silver-"
"Angelic boy." It just slipped out. Lyle gave me a look.
"And I'm a demon."
"You don't need to emphasize on that, angelic boy."
That name somehow aggravated him and I took the chance to tease him. Well, it's not everyday that you get to casually talk to a demon. Better make use of the chance while I still had it.
"Let me explain, from the day a human is born, a demon will be there under their bed. It'll grow with the human and will always be under their bed. They don't leave the spot. Ever. Demons are banned from interacting with humans in any way and we don't show ourselves either. But, a human can see their own demon, not anyone else's. Just like how you can see me and the others don't."
I tried to process everything he blurted out in a fast tone. So it was true. All the stories of seeing monsters under their beds and pulling their feets while they sleep. A chill ran down my spine.
