The demon realm; part-2

We exit the courtroom and as soon as the door shut behind us, we let out a long sigh, followed by us giggling at the unexpected rollercoaster of emotions in the courtroom. "Whew, that was so nerve-wracking." I said, stretching my hands.

A guard came to pick us up from there to guide us back to the room I was staying in. Lyle's room was right next to mine.

"You are to leave as soon as possible, and his Highness forbid any of you from leaving the fortress," the guard warned us as we walked back.

I nodded and so did Lyle. He was awfully quiet while he walked with a serious expression on his face. How unusual.

Sunlight bathed on his angel like face, the silver glint in his eyes more prominent, and his hair softly swayed with the light breeze.

'Tremendous power'. That phrase popped in my mind. What exactly was the tremendous power he was talking about? I wasn't sure if demons had powers, there was so much I didn't know. I'd have asked Lyle but if he revealed anymore about demons, I would be getting both of us into more trouble. And, I could tell this wasn't a matter we could chit chat about.

Taking slow steps while being in a daze, I suddenly tripped on my own feet. I reached my hand to what was closest to me to balance myself and ended up grabbing Lyle's arm. It was then it hit me that I could touch Lyle, even when I nudged him back in the courtroom. He was impalpable the previous night.

I quickly moved my hands away as I was sort of afraid. "Wait why can I touch you?"

Lyle shrugged indifferently.

"It's because you're in the demon realm. A demon and a human can touch each other in the demon realm but not in the human world. The same way it's common for demons to be in human world but it's very rare for a human to be in the demon realm. Common sense works different for the two worlds." The guard replied. Well, that was some new information.

While on it, I asked him why Lyle can be so far away from the bed as well. He told me that it was because the king himself summoned us with a letter that included the royal seal. The seal contains the king's energy, that is needed to summon anything or anyone. The longer we stayed in the demon realm, the more we'd be using his energy so that was why we were advised to leave as early as possible.

I was indulged in my thoughts when suddenly a young man swinged his arm around Lyle's shoulder.

"Welcome to the demon realm, brother!"

Lyle's face brimmed with joy as he punched the guy playfully in the stomach, to which he barely flinched. "Deus! I'd been wondering where you might be!"

Deus let out chuckle, a charming smile spreading across his face.

Deus was tall and slender, yet sturdy. His deep emerald hair was cut neat and short, refined tanned face accentuating a whirlpool of honey like eyes.

"Nera, this is my long time buddy Deus, one of the top ranking knights here. He'd been getting me change of clothes, and books to read for years." Lyle introduced his friend in shining armour and crimson cape to me, and we shook hands while he flashed a kind smile at me.

I returned his smile. Deus then took a deep breath and looked at Lyle. "Heard you'd been causing trouble for the king and this young miss here. What the heck are you doing?"

Deus whacked Lyle lightly. Lyle's lips pursed in a pout as he acted innocent.

Oh please.

I couldn't help but eye roll at this dramatic demon.

"Nothing much, I was merely entertaining this darling child," Lyle pat my shoulder and I flicked his hand away scorning at him.
