Rebecca's POV

Phil had picked Rebecca up that night to take her to meet the rest of the England squad. She was going to surprise them unless Phil let it slip that she was coming. There was a debate as to whether or not to post the picture of her in the dress but Rebecca decided there was no way they could know. After all she did say she was 'busy'. Becky tried to hide behind Phil as they walked in but he was so short that with the added height of her heels, she was taller than he was. When the squad saw Rebecca they all surrounded her, pushing each other aside so they could give her a hug. 

 "Hey guys!" Rebecca exclaimed. 

They all started asking her questions, most of them getting lost in translation but she answered the few she heard. Her eyes had already spot Declan in the group who had given her a quick hug when she first came. He was standing at the back away from Becky and kept quiet most of the night. She had a few drinks and chatted with Mason, Phil and Jack mostly. Occasionally, Pickford came in, made a smartass comment then left. It was something Rebecca was trying to get used to but the England boys just kept the conversation going as if they had been ignoring Jordan their whole life. 

Mason's voice brought Rebecca out of the trance she was in. "So does your family know you're here?"

She shook her head before taking a sip of her margarita. "Nope, it'd be hell on earth if my dad knew I was here right now."

"Really? Why?" Phil asked. 

Becky shrugged. "He's over-protective when it comes to me hanging out with the squad even though I never have before tonight."

"Cause he knows he can kick any one of our arses but would prefer not to because he still needs us to play matches," Jack guessed. 

"That's probably it," Rebecca laughed. 

As the night went on a few of the guys convinced her to dance but after half an hour she got tired and ended up sitting right beside Declan. As soon as Rebecca sat down Declan got up. 

"I should go, it's midnight and I need to get up early tomorrow," he said. 

Becky grabbed her purse. "Me too. I'm flying out to Paris to visit a friend." 

"Anyone we know?" the boys inquired. 

She laughed at how nosy they were. "I don't think so. His name is Jake Alexander, I met him in Greece." 

Everyone shook their heads, not recognising the unfamiliar name. Rebecca took one last sip of her drink before getting out her phone to call an Uber. 

Mason grabbed her phone from her fingers. "Don't be stupid. Dec can drive you home." 

"Oh could you?" she asked as she turned to Declan with a hopeful look in her eyes. 

Becky could tell he was hesitant to say yes but he did nonetheless. When they got in Dec's car she gave him her address but that was as much as they talked. The silence would've been awkward if it wasn't for the soft music playing in the car. Once she got there she jumped out of the car and walked to her door. 

"Well this is me. It was nice to meet you," she said with a tired smile. 

A smile which Declan returned. "You too. Night, Becca." 

"Good night Dec." 

She stood and watched him drive away. He definitely wasn't acting like the Declan she knew from the group chat. He was quiet, not the usual fun, out-going person Rebecca grew to like. She decided not to question it, seeing as she had only known him a few weeks.
