Central City

"Barry! Slow down!" I shouted. My, as always, black chuck taylor converse slamming down on the hot concrete that paved Central City.

My breath was heavy and my asthma wasn't helping.

"We'll be late!" He shouted, disappearing into the crowd. I stopped and let out a sigh.
Sadly, I was used to this. I had a knack for not being on time. Seeing as Barry is the same way, we made a perfect team.

Once I caught my breath again I started running again. I maneuvered threw the crowd, more like bumping into everyone. I'm not the most agile person out there.

Finally after running another ten blocks, I reached the crime scene and Barry had already delved into work.

"Dude, you left me!" I yelled at him. I felt my short of breath in my chest and quickly snatched my inhaler out of my pocket. It slipped threw my fingers and hit the floor. Barry's hand reached out and grasped it. He looked up at me with happy eyes and handed it to me.
I would have said thank you but I didn't have the air to say it.
I raised the inhaler to my mouth and pressed the button. My lungs filled was air and I felt calmer instantly.

"Sorry, sir. Didn't mean to be late." I said sticking the inhaler back into my pocket.

"Carson, that's the same story you tell me every time." Mr. West huffed. I nervously laughed as I walk closer to Barry.
"That's a very good deduction, sir."

I spun around on my heels facing the same direction as Barry. I tilted my head and examined the body. I pulled out my glasses, clearing my vision.

I came around the other side of the body, now facing Barry.
I pointed to the tire tracks across the stomach.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Barry asked. I snickered. When was there a time I wasn't thinking what Barry was thinking?

"Chevy Impala?"

"Exactly. Except that's-"

"Not what killed him. It was a gun." I pointed to the hole in his stomach and blood on the floor around his body.

"Nice work, Carson Novak."

"Thank you, Barry Allen." I raised my hand for a high five, hoping that it wasn't awkward. Gladly he flashed me a smile and high fived me.

"You can do all your science-y stuff while I... eat your burger." I laughed evilly, rubbing my hands together.
I picked up the burger in my hands. Before I could take a bite out of it the paddy slipped out of the bun, causing me to flinch, and knock my drink over with my elbow.
"Carrrrrrrson!" Barry whined racing over to the table.

"Sorry! I'll get the paper towels." I cringed.
Yeah, they keep a whole stock of paper towels just for me. I'm a clumsy person.
I grabbed a roll and jogged back.
I tossed the roll towards Barry but it ended up going a little more to the right than I expected and completely passed him.

"Your not the most coordinated person either." Barry stated. He bent down and picked up the roll.

"You don't say. That's an amazing observation." I gasped sarcastically. I bent down on my knees and started helping Barry wipe up the Coffee.

Barry had always been there to clean up my messes. Emotionally and literally. Ever sense that day on the kindergarten playground.
Even when he met Iris and fell in love with her. I was still his go to girl when it came to a partner project at school. Even now we're still working together. As a forensic scientist and a junior detective. Like Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

"At least I'm helpful." I snickered.

"Can't argue with that. " he replied. I smiled from ear to ear.

Steam rose from my steaming coffee. Even though it was late, I had a ton of work to do and there was no way I was making it through the night without some caffeine in my system.  I had a case about a man being attacked by a pit bull to work on with Barry.

My deep thoughts where suddenly interrupted when my phone vibrated on the table. I looked down at my phone to see who was calling. It was Thea.

"Hmm?" I though seeing that Thea and I hadn't talked in a while. She'd been busy with school and getting into trouble.

I picked up my phone and answered.

"Hey, Thea." I said using my fake 'I'm in a great mood' voice.

"You need to get down to the hospital here now." She said forcefully. I felt a strange panicky feeling fill my chest.

"Why, what's wrong? Is everything alright?" I asked, gathering my coffee and heading out the door.

"Yeah, just hurry down here." Then the call ended. I furrowed my brows as I slowly lowered my phone into my pocket.

I hopped into my car and drove as fast as I legally could down to Starling City. Once I reached the Hospital I had a hard time getting in with all the press and news cameras. Finally I squeezed my way threw only getting a few questions by the press.

"Hello, how may I help you?" A lady at the front desk asked me.

"Oh, um, I'm looking for the Queen family?" I said looking left and right for Thea.

"Carson!" Thea's voice echoed in the big hallways. I spotted her walking fast towards me.

"Hey, what's going on?" I pointed at the news crews practically pressing against the glass of the Hospital windows.

She grabbed my arm and started pulling my down hallways without a word.

We came to a stop at a room labeled #12. Mrs. Queen was waiting outside the door talking on the phone and Tommy flirting with a nurse.

"Seriously, what's up?" I asked feeling a little agitated with everyone.

"There's someone in there who you'll want to see." Thea smiled pointing at the door.

With out questioning her I opened the door looking at my shoes and closed it behind me with out looking in the room yet. I lifted my head up slowly, seeing who it was causing all this confusion.

"Hey, Cannon."

I would have dropped my coffee all over the floor if I hadn't left it in my car. Luckily I had forgotten.

I would have told you I saw Oliver Queen but standing in front of me was not the Oliver Queen I gave my lucky penny to.
"Ollie!" I gasped, running into his arms. He felt different. I vividly remember that hug on the docks. This was a whole other man I was hugging.
