Skylar's POV

I stand outside waiting for my Aunt Christi to come back from, I don't know what. I feel my feet get heavy and start to ache. I look around for a chair. When I finally spot one I rush to it. I think this is Aunt Christi's chair, but I don't know, and she's not here anyway. I plop down and a few moments later she comes back. She has iced tea in her hand, water dripping from the bottom, so I suspect she went to the cooler inside the house. She is the Barrer of Bad News, "You're in my seat sweets," she says as she motions her hands for me to move. I get up and before you know it, I'm on my quest again. I wince in pain as I wander around looking for a chair. I finally spot one,  it's purple with a chevron pattern on it. "Score!" I whisper yell as I wonder over. Not only will this chair allow me to rest, but it's also really pretty! Just as I'm about to sit down I get shoved and stumble a little as a figure sits in the chevron chair. It was my sister Brooklyn. "Sorry Sis but this is my chair," she says and takes a sip of her juice box. I search once more for a chair. Looking around, I notice a girl with long brown hair and dark brown eyes. We make eye contact and she runs up to me, the randomness of it all kind of scares me. "Hi! I'm Eliza but you can call me... Eliza!"  she says. I introduce myself after she's done. "Hi. I'm Skylar. Nice to meet you," I say and put my hand out for a shake. Apperently she had other plans though, she leaped forward and gave me a big hug. I wasn't expecting that, but I hug her back anyways. She pulls away and gives me a big cheesey smile. I notice her teeth are a bit crooked, but just fine. "Do you wanna be best friends?!" she questions rather loudly, hurting my ears a bit. I don't have many friends, so why not? "Sure," I reply. "Good because I don't have any friends! They say I'm weird but I just tell them that I'm limited edition!" she says and we both giggle. Hmm, neither of us has friends and we're both 'weird' so why not? "Listen, I'm going to go get a juice box. I'll find you later, bye Skylar!" she says and runs toward the backyard doors.

I had finally found a chair, it was tan colored with foot rest connected to it. I was so happy to finally have found a seat!!!! No one has bothered me for a good thirty minutes so I think I've finally found one with no owner. Then a boy with black hair and blue eyes comes up. He looks around my age and is slightly taller than me. "You're in my seat," he says. Oh gosh! Can I please find a chair that isn't someone elses! "Oh sorry! I'll find another one," I say and begin to get up. "It's fine, you can sit there! I don't mind! I just wanted an excuse to talk to you," he says, his cheeks turning a crimson red. "Oh thanks," I mumble and sit back down. Another boy with black hair and hazel eyes comes to stand next to his friend who needed an excuse to talk. He looked happy and polite from his physical features, but you never know how someone can turn out. What is the boy's name? I should ask. "So what's your name?" I ask looking up at him. "Zach," he says with a nice smile, "what's yours?" He steps closer and I scooch over allowing him to sit next to me. "Skylar," I reply. It's getting dark out now so fireworks should begin soon. "HEY SKYLAR! I've been looking all over for you!" Eliza comes out of no where and makes me jump a little. I look at Zach and think for a minute. Wait. How old is he? "How old are you?" I ask him and completely ignore Eliza. "Six years old," he says holding up six fingers. "Ok!" I say, "I'm five," I show five fingers. The fireworks start and everyone is in awe already. Eliza and Zach's friend are talking now about whatever. They lay on the grass together looking at the stars and fireworks. They are so gross. I mean, cuddling? With a guy? EW! "Do you want to be my girlfriend Skylar?" Zach asks. "What's a girlfriend?" I mumble into my sweater. "I don't know, but my brother has one and they hold hands and stuff," he says thinking. "Ok," I simply say, "but no holding hands and stuff. That's weird." "Ok," he responds. "I'll be back, I'm going to get a drink," I say as I get up to leave," Do you want one?" "Ummmm, yes please,"  he says, and I set off to quench my thrist. I walk up to my aunt Stacy and recognize the look in her eye. She knows something. Something about me and Zach, I hope not. "So what's up with you and Zach?" she asks. DANG IT! SHE KNOWS!! But... how? "Nothing," I reply, trying to keep my cool. "Oh yeah?" she says. "Yeah." How does she know? "So it's nothing?" "Yup, nothing." Why does she have to ask so much? She obviously knows I'm not telling the truth. Why doesn't she say anything? Then my cousin, William, comes up. Oh no. Can it get worse? "I heard it all Aunt Stacy! They're going out now!" William shouts. Oh no, I wonder how red my cheeks can get, lets find out.  "I just came to get a juice," I say and Aunt Stacy tosses me one. I start to walk away, thinking about how everyone will know by the end of the night. Wait. I turn around,"I need one more," I say thinking of Zach. She tosses me one more with a smirk. WHY?!
