I groaned as I tried to move my human paws. I closed my eyes, huffing as I tried to push myself to the forefront of Ellie's mind. Every night, while Ellie was asleep, I practice my control. Her dream state allowed me more reign and I worked hard to try and move the digits she called fingers. One by one, they slowly moved, curling inward into the soft sheets.

My movements were slow and sluggish as I swung our legs over the side of the bed. It was weird, trying to mold my wolfen self into a human body. Ellie's legs were a little too spindly for me. As I walked on wobbly legs toward the hallway, I realised how vertically inclined Ellie was.

I gasped, falling forward onto my four paws, sending relief through my body. The thump of my limbs on the floor made someone shuffle in the bedroom next to mine. I held my breath, waiting for the other person's breathing to even out. Once I was sure the person was back asleep, I gripped the wall and hoisted myself to a vertical position. Then I wobbled to the kitchen.

I watched Ellie make cookies yesterday with Finn and then watched Pappy, Stepmomma and Cora eat them for dessert. I could surely make Ellie a batch. However, I learned that I was not talented in the cooking department.

I set my hands on my hips as I looked around at the dirty dishes. Somehow, I think I confused sugar with baking soda or maybe baking powder. I held up the three boxes one by one to my nose. They all smelt different, but the pan filled with white powder smelled like all three ingredients.

It didn't really make sense to me. Light shone through the window and I gasped, realizing  that morning was leaking in. Stepmomma would kill Ellie if she saw the mess. So I quickly threw the pan of dry ingredients into the wet ones, mixed them up and threw them splat onto a pan in little balls.

And that was the end of my cooking career.

"ELLIE!" Stepmomma screamed, running downstairs. Pappy and Cora followed her, thumping throughout the house as I coughed into the smoke.

The fire alarm blared around us and I felt Ellie wake up in my subconscious.

"Syn?" She asked me quietly.

"Uh-hi," I responded as Stepmomma grew closer.

Ellie gaped at the horror around me, "What did you do?" She cried out.

"Um-" I began, not exactly sure how to explain myself. Humans always believed that it is the thought that counts, right?

"ELLIE! WHAT DID YOU DO? IT IS YOUR SISTER'S BIG DAY TODAY!" Stepmomma shouted, sending spit flying into my face. I growled at her tone and her eyes flashed.

"Syn," Ellie hissed at me, "Give me back control."

"Don't worry," I responded, glaring at Stepmomma, "I got this."

"YOU RUINED THE KITCHEN! I REFUSE TO LET YOU EAT IN THIS HOUSE IF THIS IS HOW YOU ARE GOING TO ACT!"  She shouted.

I bared my teeth at her. She ruined Ellie's birthday. "Please, your kitchen was ruined the moment you went with neon yellow walls!"

Stepmomma's face grew redder and she pushed herself into my space, "HOW DARE YOU! I WILL KICK YOU OUT-"

"Make me!" I growled with a smirk. I was going to shift and show her what happens when she challenges me! My feet shuffled from side to side. I was going to shift and bite her! I was ready for this!

I snarled at her and raised my fist, but it didn't work! My hand felt glued to my side. Then I felt myself slipping backwards. Ellie took back control with a sigh of relief and I humphed, falling onto my four paws.

"I'm so sorry!" Ellie groveled. She looked around the kitchen in horror. "I'll tidy this up! I promise!"

"You better," Pappy said, sternly. He pressed his hand to Stepmomma's shoulder making Ellie swallow hard. "It's Cora's engagement announcement today. Your mother planned on making something special to bring to the party. She can't cook in this mess."
