Sirana dreamt, and although she knew she was dreaming, she couldn't force herself awake. She hears Severus's voice, and she tried to go to him. She longed for him, and her dreams of him only made her feel how distant she was from him. He was leaving. No. She didn't want him to leave. She could feel him nearby always, and now he would be gone. She didn't know if she had the strength to make it through without him. She felt lost in swirls of light and dark, cold and heat, winds and waves, always buffeting her mind, threatening to take her further away. She held on to the link between them, a lifeline, her only salvation. If she could have cried, she would have. Each moment was an eternity, but she knew she had to be strong and wait longer. She had too much to live for to give up without fighting, so she fought harder.
Her dream shifted. She saw a face...not Severus. It was a face as handsome as Severus's, but differently so. It was a strong face, and wise, but where Severus's face held lines from pain, regret, and hardship, the lines on this face were from the weight of responsibility, concern, and laughter. It was a fatherly face.
The man in her dream spoke to her, "The end is in sight. It is a happy ending, if all that is given is well received. And as with all endings, there is a beginning. Hold strong Sirana. It will be worth it in the end...the beginning."
Sirana did as she was asked, she held on stronger, feeling her mind find a focus in the storm, as if a lighthouse shone its light just for her... to find her way home.
