Ever since the day you left you missed her. You missed her laugh, her smile, and the little notes she would leave for you when she would go run errands or go out with the girls. As thankful as you are to be in a close enough time zone to talk with her so often, all the things you love the most about her do not compare through facetime.Having to leave Chelsea when your contract finished, was really hard on both of you. But Sam was very supportive of you knowing this was what's best for your career. Playing with Lyon would give you so many incredible opportunities to win big trophies and get called up on a national team level. Even if it meant having to leave a team that felt like family and your girlfriend you knew it was the right decision to make.
After not being able to see Sam for nearly 4 months you were miserable. So when you found out that with the small injury you had picked up on the weekend you would be able to go on winter break a week early, you were overjoyed. With Sam still having a few matches left to play in the first half of her season, you decided that you would leave it as a surprise that you could really come and see her sooner.
When booking your flight to London for the final group stage match in the UWCL, you told Sam that your injury was nothing too serious but that you would have to stay back to do some recovery for a while. She understood and suspected nothing of your surprise.
Landing the night before the game, you had Caitlin Foord come and pick you up knowing her from the national team and getting closer with her through Sam.
"Do you think she has any clue that I'm here?" you ask Caitlin as the two of you walk towards her car.
"Nah I reckon she'll be too focused on trying to get the win tomorrow that she'll notice anything's up. But you can just stay with me and Lia tonight and I can drop you off at the game tomorrow," she replied driving toward her house.
The next morning you woke up getting some coffee with a few of the Aussie girls who were in London before going to watch Sam play. You sat in the crowd trying to be discreet in hopes that Sam wouldn't figure out you were here before the end of the game. You were enclosed with nerves watching as Wolfsburg continued to score. As hard as they tried Chelsea just couldn't come back, which made you feel uneasy knowing that might put a damper on the emotions that you were hoping for with your surprise.
You could tell how Sam was visibly upset on the field, crouched over with her head in her hands. That was until Jessie came over to her putting her hand on her shoulder making Sam stand. Jessie then pointed over to you causing Sam to turn and lock eyes with you.
You saw a tear slip down her face and she smiled slightly, quickly making her way over to you. You wrapped your arms around her telling her how proud you are of her.
"How are you here?" she asked slightly pulling away looking really confused.
"I just wanted to see you and the trainers at Lyon said I would be fine to go home a little early. So I figured I'd come to see you play since I missed you so much", you replied.
She pecked your lips before pulling herself back into your embrace. "It probably wasn't the best game to come and see," she whispered against your neck.
"Maybe not but I know you guys will be back and dominating again very soon," you said kissing her forehead.
"Let me go shower then we can go home," you nodded following her to wait outside of the locker room.
She came back out about twenty minutes later with all of her stuff ready to go. She came over to you grabbing your hand before walking with you toward her car. She wrapped an arm around your waist pulling you a little closer. You turned your head to look at her with your mouth almost on her ear.
"I might have another surprise for you when we get home," you whispered teeth brushing her ear.
"Mm what kind of surprise?" she smirked her grip on you tightening.
"A damn good one considering your birthday is coming up," you reply kissing her cheek before walking ahead of her getting into the passenger side of the car.
She swiftly put her things in the back of the car before getting in the drivers seat.
"Well we better get home then," she blushed before driving away rather fast.
A/n: Sorry this is a shorter one but I'm working on trying to get another one out this week. Let me know what any of you would want to see, hope you enjoyed it!
