"Damn that stubborn little girl!" King Jude growled as he sat on his throne waiting for his daughter to show up and give him a good explanation of not showing up to the concert. A black merpanther was beside the king trying to calm to him down a bit.
"Surely your majesty she didn't go that far, I'm sure of it." The merpanther said not very convincing.
"Tsk she's a mischief girl and when she's-" Jude stopped talking when he saw Lucy and Plue came in the throne room in silent.
"Young lady! Where in the world have you been? Everyone was really excited in seeing you and hearing your angelic voice." Lucy look down in shame.
"I'm sorry, father! I just forgot about it and I-"
"You didn't go to the surface, did you?" Jude asked. Lucy nod. "Lucy, how many times do I have to tell-"
"I wasn't near the shore and they were no ships in-"
"It doesn't matter, humans live up there! They are dangerous and you know what they did to your mother!" Jude told her.
Lucy gasped. Hearing her father say the word "mother" made her remember the tragic day that humans kill her mother.
"You will never ever leave this palace again! Is that clear?" He growled. Lucy didn't say a word. All she did was to swim away from him to get to her place. Plue followed her. Jude returned to his throne, he sighed a bit. The merpanther placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Your majesty, you know how young adults are. Lucy is only 18." He said. "I know you are only trying to protect her and keep her away from the surface."
"...Do you think I am too strict?" Jude asked. "I was only worried about her safety. She's my only daughter I ever have, Lily. She is so much like her mother... Her voice when she sings..." Lily nodded. Jude continued. "But, I would love for you to keep an eye on her." Lily made a bow.
"Yes, your majesty." He said and swam away, leaving Jude alone on the throne.
So, Lily left the palace to find Lucy outside the grounds. He found her and Plue swimming towards the reef. Lily began to follow them. He saw Lucy swim towards the big boulder, but in front there's a flat rock, she pulled on it and went inside her grotto. Lily waited for Lucy and Plue to be inside, then he went up to the rock and pull it to get inside. Without being seen, he looked inside and saw unusual objects that humans use above. How long has Lucy been getting these?
"Lucy, are you okay?" Plue asked with worry. Lucy was laying on her stomach, staring at the fork and began to use it to brush her hair.
"I'm fine, Plue." She replied. "If only my father could understand. Maybe he's right. Maybe there is something wrong with me."
"About what was like up there?" Plue asked.
"What else could it be?" Lucy asked with a giggle. "I just don't see how the world up there could have such wonderful things could be bad? Are humans really that dangerous to us?"
"Many times, yes." Lily's voice replied. Lucy gasped and turned to see him there. "So, this is where you hide all of your...human collection?" He asked, grabbing the ring that had a pearl on top. "Does your father know about this?"
You're not going to tell him, are you?" Plue asked. Lucy took Lily's hands with plead.
"Oh, please, Lily! My father will never understand! Please don't tell him about this!" She begged. Lily patted her hands calmly.
"Alright then. I will keep this secret. Your father won't have to know about this. Now, come on. Let's return to the palace." As the mermaids left the grotto, a dark shadow went over them. Lucy looked up and saw the bottom of the ship that was sailing. She swam up after it, she did hear Lily and Plue calling her to come back, but she didn't listen. Lucy popped her head out to the surface and saw a ship, but above the night sky, there are fireworks. They came from the ship. Lucy gasped in awe to see them blow up in different colors.
