I sighed as I cut off the engine. Resting my head back on the headrest for a moment I looked at the beat up old sign. It was supposed to say Valentine's Playhouse but a couple of lights were out so it just looked like Valentin's Payhouse. In a way it was sort of a "pay house." For the strippers- pardon me the exotic dancers.
I stepped out and smoothed out my black uniform which was sort of wrinkled, courtesy it laying on my floor. I walked slowly in the 9 inch heels that would not be on my feet had it not been one of Joe's "rules."
I smiled at the bouncer, Benny, who was one of the normal people around here, as I walked in. Immediately my nose filled with smoke and my head and ears pounded from the loud music. I pushed my way through sweaty men and girls in skimpy clothing towards the bar. "Hey Mickey!" I called to the girl who was currently manning the bar. She smiled up at me. "Hey Courtney." We had to basically shout to even be slightly heard. She passed me the orders and took off her name tag, thus ending her shift. Mickey always had the earlier ones while I opted to take the late ones that ended in the early morning.
Looking around the bar area, I already saw a couple of my regulars. "Hey Miss Courtney! I knew you couldn't resist me for long!" I smiled at the older guy who went by the name of Nate. His personality reminded me of Duncan. Except he was way older, at least 50. I really didn't know what he was doing in a strip club but then again, what was I doing working in one?
My night was mostly busy, as most were. People really started shifting in around 12 and don't leave until Benny and I have to kick their drunk asses out. I was cleaning some glasses when one of the dancers, Sidney came up to me. "Court. That guy has been ogling ti for the past hour and a half." I looked to wear she was pointing and my heart stopped.
What the hell was Duncan doing here? Heather must've told him. I could kill her. He was standing in the corner, all by himself, just staring. I knew I wasn't going to get out of this one. If I ran right now, he'd catch up and I'd be jobless. And If I stayed put he'd still catch up to me. I could always get Benny to- Oh shit. He's coming over slowly. Look distracted. Even though I know he saw me look at him, I try to act nonchalant anyways.
"Courtney." His voice sounds the same. Still deep. Except it doesn't have the same flirtatious or playful tone it once carried. It sounds serious. I look up into his teal eyes. Nothing else about his face has changed. He still has his piercings and mohawk. "What do you want?" I say fake looking for smudges. He grabs my hand suddenly, making my cleaning motions stop. "We need to talk."
Damn. I finally finished Princess of Valencia so now my main attention is focused on this story. I already know how it's going to end too. But I m thinking this will be about the same length of Princess of Valencia, which was roughly 15 chapters so expect that or if I really just have a load of ideas come up then expect more. Thank you for reading this chapter and I think I will start updating every night. If I remember and have the time. Have a Happy Tuesday!
