Nick was sorting his data on Nate's case at the back desk, when he heard a whimper outside. Is someone out there? That sounded like a whimper, maybe they need help. He clicked open the door and turned to look who was outside, when he saw (Y/N) with Dogmeat by her side.

"Ms. Receiver? What are you doing here?" He still wasn't quite sure how he felt about the fact she could see him.

There was a pause, she seemed to be listening to something, before she turned and responded. "Oh, I'm so sorry. Dogmeat was supposed to take me to Diamond City Surplus, but he brought me here instead. But... where is here?"

"You're just outside my office. May I ask why you're going to... The Surplus?" There was a hint of bitterness, on account of the fact they hated him there.

"I need to pick up some things for food."

Nick couldn't help but wonder how the woman standing in front of him could possibly know which food was good or not. "If it's not too much trouble, could I help you?"

"Sure. You can start by leading me to the Surplus," she said, seemingly unaware of how he felt about the establishment.

Your hand traveled across the mutfruits and carrots; Nick was  standing a ways behind you, receiving all the glares one could ask for from Myrna, with you quietly unaware. "Don't even come near my wares, synth," she hissed. You picked up on this, and turned around with a small basket of goods you planned to purchase, "Myrna, he's just helping me shop. There's no need for that." Myrna stepped aside, grumbling, as you handed her the necessary caps and headed of to Polly's meat shop with Nick.

[Valentine liked that.]
<(|lol i had to|)>

"You didn't have to do that, you know," Nick mumbled. "Oh, I know. But there really was no reason for it; Myrna's just got something up her ass." You said offhandedly, as you arrived at Polly's little booth. "Hey,
(Y/N).  What're you in the mood for? Deathclaw, Radstag, Mirelurk? Oh, and hey to you too, Nick."

You joked a bit with Polly as you picked out your food, with Nick making comments here and there that made you laugh. The tension had been slowly diffusing as you two made your trip, though you still had some reservations. After paying for the meat and making your way back to the Diamond City square, you and Nick stood akwardly for a bit, unsure how to say goodbye. "(Y/N), huh? I always thought 'The Receiver' was a bit uptight".

"Yeah, I usually only use it for business purposes, but no one ever asks for my real name anymore," you replied, a little wistfully. "You can call me
(Y/N), though. I don't mind." A small chuckle from Nick. "Well, if you say so. It's a nice name, by the way. I'll let you know about Nate, alright?"

"Sure, sure." You never had a chance to thank him, he left very quickly. You made your way back to your apartment, your thoughts tangled and caught on the *ahem,* handsome man who had helped you with your little trip. Wait. Did I just think that?? Did I just call him handsome??? Your pace quickened, and your face felt hot. Dogmeat let out a small bark, startled at your sudden pace, and at home you arrived.
