𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐒, as it turned out,  wasn't a bad housemate at all.

While Remus hadn't been expecting some delinquent to come and live with him,  he had remembered that she was a teenage girl,  something he'd had little experience of living with.  He'd expected the worst  ──  mood swings and mess,  maybe even the odd boy.  But in fact,  Victoria was nothing like he'd been expecting.

She was extremely pleasant company,  more than happy to curl up with a book in the worn armchair by the window,  or to join him in a game of chess.  She always helped to clean up,  often volunteering to tidy up the small cottage.  And she'd never once brought anyone home,  never venturing outside enough to do so.

Along with all the mundane parts of living together,  the two had also spent two full moons together.  Over her sixth year at Hogwarts,  Remus had become familiar with Victoria's particularly volatile wolf,  never fully subdued by the wolfsbane potion.  He'd helped keep the wolf distracted,  keeping it from attacking itself like his had often done in his youth.  Full moons in his cottage was no different,  the two wolves keeping each other company,  the older distracting the younger from any pain it wanted to inflict upon itself.  And in the mornings,  Remus would make breakfast for the two of them,  the pair recovering from any injuries together.

It was why,  he supposed,  he was somewhat dreading her return to Hogwarts.

Remus Lupin was no stranger to loneliness.  In fact,  he'd spent most of his adult life alone.  So now that he'd acquired some company,  he found himself not wanting the loneliness to return.  But he knew how selfish that line of thought was,  even as Victoria never seemed completely happy to be returning.
