"Excuse me ma'am, where can I apply for a job here?" I asked the nearest employee to me. I tried to ask soon before the show started so that I could leave before a horde of people could come. She directed me towards the main entrance and I thanked her.
As I got up and began to grab my bag, I could feel someone or something starting at me. It was somewhat of an unsettling feeling so I tried to ignore it. I stood up straight to leave my little area and headed towards the front. That's when I made eye contact with the thing again and it seemed to not have moved since I'd looked at it last.
I moved my eyes as fast as I could, and began to look towards where I was headed. It was a bit of a walk there because of the gigantic size of the Pizza plex but It was somewhat nice because of how empty it was. The emptiness wasn't because there weren't enough customers, it was because of the show going on.
The front desk was in my sight and I could see two bored employees waiting for their next complaint to find them. As I approached them, they began to stand up straight and put on the classic happy employee act.
"How can I help you ma'am?" one of them said to me.
"I was uh wondering if I could apply for a job here, I've seen your posters and advertisements everywhere looking for new workers." I said. They seemed less tense when I said this and they were more calm. Looking through a stack of paperwork, one of the two found a sheet listing all the different jobs available and the other employee had a sheet of paper for me to fill out the resume.
I began to look through the different jobs list. It read: Security guard, mechanic, front desk, janitor, entertainer, day care center attendant, prop designer, translator, and more. I continued to trace my finger up and down the list thinking hard about what would be best for me. My finger continued to stray on the one that read, "day care attendant" and over a few seconds I was able to make my decision.
"Is the daycare attendant still open?" I questioned. I told myself I wanted that position because I was good with kids. Technically this was true because I was able to deal with my little brother and I did babysitting jobs when I was in high school. Yet in my mind, I couldn't help myself from thinking about the tall animatronic with the daycare kids.
"Yes of course! That position is always open!" They laughed. "Either it's empty or the new employee leaves immediately." They continued to say. "In fact we do pay a bit extra for the employees there."
My eyes widened and I asked to fill out the application. It asked mandatory things such as asking if I was 18, do I agree with the policies and such, do I have any kind of allergies or medical problems, the usual stuff. I answered all and was able to get completely done with the waver.
"Look I know this isn't a usual part of the application process, but would you be willing to sign up for a nightly security guard whenever there's an emergency? We're so low on security." They asked me.
" Yeah sure why not." I answered. I figured it was no big deal to have some overtime especially since it'd be interesting to see the megaplex so quiet.
They cheered silently and we finally completed the process.
"Okay you're all set! Your first day is tomorrow at 6 am and the Daycare completely opens at 7 am. Well set up a locker for you in the locker room and have a uniform ready for you tomorrow. Thank you for applying y/n."
I thanked them and began my search for Mateo. After about 10 minutes I found him with a group of kids led by an employee who was chaperoning them. We started to leave and I told him about my new job at the PizzaPlex.
"Are you serious!?!?!" He asked, excitedly. I smiled and nodded and the small kid bounced for joy in the backseat. I told him I'd be working at the daycare but for some reason I'd received a negative response for that because it was apparently 'boring'.
He told me about his awesome adventure at the PizzaPlex and I happily listened to it the whole way home. As I dropped him off I waved to my parents as they were staring through the window. The moment I got home I planned my day for tomorrow and hoped for the absolute best.

Waking up the next morning at 5 would be easy. Or so I thought. In my head I thought one alarm would be enough when in reality I desperately needed at least 3. I finally got up at 5:30, and headed towards the Pizza plex in what I woke up in. There was nothing I could really do about it due to the fact that I was already gonna be late for work and because my only work attire was there.
Upon entering the building, I found my cheery co-workers ready to start up the place at 7. They directed me towards the locker room and told me that showers and clothes were there. Almost immediately when I walked into the locker room I sat down on one of the benches and lazily put on my clothes. I'd taken my time to 'prepare' even though that just consisted of my putting on makeup on as slow as possible (If you don't wear makeup that is totally fine too, it's not important to the story in the slightest).
At about 6:10, I'd finally left the locker room to go to the daycare before realizing that I'd meet the tall animatronic for the first time. I was sure he'd recognize me and began to freak out because of that.
'It's okay calm down, If he begins to say anything about recognizing you, just brush it off or play dumb.' I told myself.
I took the small staircase down to the play room because of my uninterest in the slide at the time. That was until the door at the bottom was locked shut.
'Great, they forgot to give me keys.' I thought to myself, already frustrated. I was forced to walk all the way back up the staircase out to the normal entrance. It left me with no other choice but the slide. I groaned and proceeded to sit at the top contemplating my decision.
"It's too early for me to care." I said out loud. I let go of the top base and began sliding down. At the bottom there was a ball pit for me to land in and I shrieked as I approached it. With the surprise I wasn't able to stay on two feet and fell face first into the pit. It was well kept and the plastic balls didn't seem too dirty but nonetheless it was gross.
"Help!" I yelled. It was an exaggeration but It would've been helpful to get some sort of help out. I felt something metal grab onto my hand, and with no struggle, it was able to pull me out easily. I cleaned myself off as soon as I got out and looked up to see a bright sunny face looking at me with it's face centimeters apart from mine.
"Hello new friend! Why're you here so early? And how'd you get into the building? And where are your parent-" It stopped mid sentence and began studying my face.
"I'm just your new co-worker..." I said awkwardly, scratching my head. I could see a lightbulb go off in his head right before he said,
" I REMEMBER YOU!! YOU WERE AT THE SHOW YESTERDAY AND I COULDN'T STOP STARING AT YOU! WHAT A COINCIDENCE!" He exclaimed loudly.
"Uh I'm not so sure if you have the right person-" I began.
"NOPE! It was definitely you!" It said,
"I'm Sundrop, your new co-worker!"
(pls comment and save, i'll love you forever :>)
