Alice was only a little baby when she got abandoned but an old kind looking woman found her outside of a scatty restaurant. The old crooked woman had nothing to do with her so she dropped her off outside of Miss Jones Orphanage. The curtains had been ripped like a rapid cat had been living there whilst the light were twitching on and off. It didn't look very pleasant but it was better than nothing. Alice was now 12 and it was her birthday the next day, she was so excited. She had a friend and her name was Emily, Emily McAndrew. Alice didn't know her last name as she was only young when she had arrived at the orphanage. Miss Jones was quite old and passed away when Alice was 7, she was like a Mother to her. So her sister took over. It wasn't a very good thing. The smell of cigarettes filled the air of the whole building. She wasn't well dressed, she didn't shower, she always had her manky feet out everywhere and she was just utterly disgusting. She was nothing like Miss Jones, she was more like Miss Bones.

"This woman is stinky and gross." Annie said.

Alice adored Annie as she was so small and cute, she was only 6 and she reminded her of her younger self.

"Right girls get to bed I want to watch some Emmerdale." Miss Bones screeched with her awful crackly voice.

They did what she said as they didn't want to find out what happened if they didn't listen to her.

They were all laid silently on their beds.

"No wonder she's a miss and not a Mrs, who would want to marry that ugly rat." Layla whispered in a sassy tone.

Everyone giggled.

Layla was a bit older than Alice, she was 14. Alice always looked up to Layla, she saw her as a brave, rebellious character. Layla joined the orphanage when she was 6. Her mum was always getting in trouble and going to jail so she had to find a new carer but none of her family wanted anything to do with her. She was quite shy at first but after 1-2 years she's always been a role model to Alice. Miss Bones heard some whispers and giggles and marched over to there room. Of course the children had practised getting caught, as she charged in the room they were all sound asleep.

"Arghh I'm going to miss the rest of Emmerdale." Miss bones screeched while running back to the sofa.

Alice was asleep.

But she heard some crying, she suddenly woke up and saw that Annie was cuddled up with her teddy's  whilst she had tears running down her eyes.

"Oh Annie, come her, it's okay." Alice tried to reassure Annie.

"I had a nightmare Alice and I can't go back to sleep." Annie cried.

They both laid there head down and fell fast asleep.
