Comfort. (Dave X Fem!Reader angst oneshot)

It was late at night. You were sitting in your room doing whatever. You were a little bored, until you heard a knock on your door. Curious, you went to go see who it was.

As soon as you open the door, you see an exhausted Dave at your door. "Oh...hey Dave!" You say. "Hello, Y/N...could I...stay here for a while...?" He asks. "Oh! Sure thing! Come in!" You say, smiling. Dave smiles back and wheels into your house. "So...what brings you here?" You ask, curious. "Well...I've been having some...bad memories, and it's making it impossible for me to rest properly..." Dave explains. He yawns. "Oh...I'm sorry to hear that. Would you like some tea?" You offer. "Hm. Tea sounds nice right about now..." he says. "Great! You can stay in my room if you'd like." You say with a smile.

You walk into your room to give a cup of tea to Dave, who's now sitting on a beanbag chair. "Thank you..." he says. "You're welcome!" You say. You sit next to Dave. "So...tell me more about your memories. Are they vivid?" You ask. "Yes, very..." Dave replies. "Do you...wanna talk about it...?" You ask. Dave flinches a little at that question. "I'd...prefer if we DONT do that..." he says as he sighs shakily. "Hey...it's okay. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But just know, you're not alone. Never forget that." You say, trying to comfort him. "Thank you, Y/N." Dave says.

Dave yawns. "Hey...you seem tired, would you like to rest a little?" You ask. "Absolutely..." Dave replies. "Here. You can lay your head down on my lap." You offer. Dave nods and lays his head down on your lap, falling asleep. You pat his head to comfort him. "He looks so adorable when he sleeps..." you think to yourself. You cuddle with him for a short while.

After a few minutes, Dave jolts up and awake, hyperventilating. You notice this, and you come to his aid, hugging him. "Dave! I'm here. What happened?" You ask in a panic. "It happened again...the nightmares, they...they won't stop..." he says, still hyperventilating. "Shhh...it's ok, calm down...take deep breaths..." you say, trying to comfort him. Dave was still hyperventilating, but his panicked breaths soon slowed down, and he was able to calm himself. He let out an exhausted sigh. "Why, Y/N...why does this keep happening...? WHY?!" He shrieks. Tears start to fall down his face. You put your hand on his cheek. "Davey...look at me. It's ok...I'm here for you, always. I'll help you through this, I promise." You say calmly. Dave finds it soothing with your tone of voice. "Thank you so much...I'm so lucky to have someone like you by my side." He says with a smile. You're flattered by his words. "Awww, Dave! I could say the same about you!! C'mere, you!!" You say, as you hug him. He hugs you back, smiling.

"I love you, Y/N." He says.

"I love you too...Davey." You say back.

How'd you guys like it? I thought it was pretty heartwarming to write, in my opinion.
