They were sitting next to each other on the couch in the nurse's office. Cheryl refused to let Tony just put up with it. She shot a scathing look at the young nurse, growling that she could handle it herself. Now she was gently pressing a cold compress against Antoinette's ribs. They haven't said a word to each other since they came here. Cheryl just couldn't believe that he said those words under such circumstances. She planned to keep them to herself as long as possible, and if she ever said it, it would definitely not be in such a company, but alone. But she was so angry at everyone around her that her brain didn't have time to process the statement before she shouted.
Toni was so quiet that Cheryl immediately realized that she was considering words to end all relations with Cheryl once and for all. She doesn't need your love, Blossom. You don't know how to love, and she knows it perfectly well, because she sees right through you. You could just keep your mouth shut and enjoy her company, and now you'll just be forgotten, as usual.
- You can take the ice off, Cher. It's much easier for me. - Cheryl broke out of her thoughts, putting the compress on the iron table next to the couch and nervously rubbing her frozen palms. Toni sat shoulder to shoulder with her. She helped her wipe the blood from her face and treat her lip, and now the girl could safely leave the office, but something kept her in place.
- Cher... I…
- No! - Blossom got to her feet, clenching her hands into fists and digging her nails into her palms. – I've ruined everything, I understand. - The redhead took a deep breath. She hated crying in front of Tony, because the first days of their acquaintance, she cried every now and then, telling all the horrors that she went through in her family. But Toni helped her get through it, to feel strong and completely normal, and now she's going to lose it all because of her long tongue.
- I know you don't need my feelings, Tony. But they are there. They're not going anywhere, and I'm really sorry that I let you down, destroyed your trust. I tried to keep it to myself, but when I saw you in these stands, I realized that they hurt you… I just couldn't let them do something to you. I don't want to lose you, T.T. You are the most important person in my life, and I don't care that I'm in a hurry with these words, because we've known each other for a little more than a month, but this is how I feel. I don't even want to imagine life without you, but if that's what you want… - Cheryl was interrupted by Toni, who abruptly got up from the couch, whimpering because of the sharp pain. She took Cheryl's hands, interlacing her fingers with her own.
– I don't want to lose you, Cher. - Toni's voice was hoarse and hoarse, but she was absolutely serious, look Cheryl in the eyes. – I also have feelings for you that I've never felt before, but I'm afraid of them. - Toni bit her lip nervously. She wanted to try something with Cheryl, God, after she saw her in a rage after the incident at the stadium, after the cherished three words left her mouth, all she wanted was to stop in the middle of the fucking field and kiss her. But she was too afraid of this flood of feelings to comprehend it.
- I understand, you don't have to do or say anything.
- But I want to. I want to try, but Cher, please, can we go slow? I can't handle it if the whole school talks about us as a couple tomorrow. I have no experience in relationships, I do not know how to behave. What should I do, what should I say?
- We don't need to change anything, T. I don't need labels if I can just consider you mine in my head. I'm not going to play to the public, because those moments that we shared just the two of us, that's what I live for.
- You know I'm yours. - Toni smiled sheepishly, unclasping the fingers of one hand to stroke Cheryl's cheek with her thumb. - And you're mine. And no football players or girls like Veronica will change that. - Blossom leaned forward, gently kissing the pink-haired one, trying not to hurt her damaged lip. She pulled back to take a deep breath and rest her forehead on Toni's forehead.
- Hey, little bear?
- Yeah? - Toni stuttered, and Cheryl saw a blush that was almost invisible on her olive skin, but her cheeks were noticeably heated. – I love you too. - Blossom's heart stopped. She had never expected to hear such words from a girl who had become her world in such a short time, because from the very beginning of their relationship she had not hoped for reciprocity.

I love you, sis.

Of course your parents love you, Cheryl.

What kind of nonsense is this?

I love you too…

It was so new, so different, but this is what Cheryl has been craving all her life. She could not even imagine that the person she would idolize would be on the other side of the city, literally making them Romeo and Juliet in the midst of the Montague and Capulet war. But damn, it was such a wonderful feeling, making everything in her stomach turn over and her heart skip a couple of beats.
She didn't say anything because the words were unnecessary. She simply wrapped her arms around Toni's waist, enticing her into another kiss that she would never get enough of.
And all the problems magically faded into the background when Toni's lips connected with hers. And all of a sudden it didn't matter anymore.
