After all that happened that day, I was left with questions.
How did they get to the kids?
How did they know where they were?
How did he know I was here?
All of those questions, without answers. And that's how I got back where this started. The planning room. We were seated around a table, Dorka at the head of it, Tessa on their right. I was seated across Tessa, Anna sitting right next to me, across her Verchus and next to Verchus was Timi.
Some people arrived later on that deadly day, to a very scared and exhausted kingdom. Drother, Verchus and Eddy amongst them. Verchus was the General here, since General Chonk couldn't attend as he was too busy helping my home.
"So. Welcome everyone, I'm glad all of you joined me today," Dorka started her speech, "there are some things that need to be discussed. I've been thinking about that day and some details aren't adding up. Sky told me her own concerns, and I agree with her questions. How did Jacob know that Sky was here in Lurris? How did he know where the children were?" she asked loudly, looking over at all of the people seated carefully, her eyes stopping for a second when they reached Anna's.
"I think there is a traitor among us." she declared. Gasps and whispers errupted, who could've done that? I was shocked, I trust everyone in this room. I grasped Anna's hand tightly, rubbing in circles with my thumb. "Dorka, that's absurd! No one in this room would do that. Everyone loves Lurris," I claim, not wanting to believe this. "To be honest with you Princess Sky, Her Majesty is right. There is no other way they could have known," Tessa cut in, stopping the whispers completely, "the last question there is now is who? Who would work for Jacob and his father?"
"It might have been unwillingly," Verchus butted in, "we know how the Kithage Republic's heads' work. Work for me or die," she looked so serious, I would never think she can be serious. She has a bubbly personality. It's like she's always lightly drunk on red wine. Dorka hummed, taking in what was said, "what do you think about this, Anna?"
Anna looked at her, "I think I agree with you, Your Majesty. Maybe there was a secret knight, hidden amongst your own units. There aren't many people who would have done this," she replied, something that I couldn't point out in her voice. I will need to talk to her about it later.
"Thank you for your opinion, Anna. I think we can agree on ending it here today, but before I do, I need to say something. I will personally kill whoever is behind this," Dorka announced, ending the meeting.
"Dorka! I need to talk to you," I confessed after everyone left. "Of course! Anything, Sky," they retorted with a smile.
"I noticed that Jacob was acting.. differently to you. Do- did you know him?" They sighed, "I knew you would ask. It's quite a long story, so sit back down," she said quietly with a small chuckle. "When I was younger, my family used to host a lot of balls. After a bit of them where I had no time to meet him, I finally did. I was excited because he seemed sweet.."
