Chapter-29

My new year's evening wasn't all that horrible, we cooked, we talked- I cried but then everything was fine. It felt good being able to get so much off my chest, he patiently sat their listening to everything. The slight nods he gave every now and then just to let me know he was still listening- gosh it was attractive.

We delayed our second date to until I was in a better place mentally. The one good thing that did come out of this sort of heartbreak was I was able to write so well, like my words weren't mere squiggles on paper they had impact.

It had been a week since that fiasco took place, Charles was back in Maranello training for the new season, perfecting his new routine and doing productive things. Unlike him I was sprawled on the couch at home, watching a bad movie with Kenji.

"Can I ask you something?" Kenji spoke.

"Go ahead, it's not like you won't ask if I say no." I laughed, gobbling some popcorn.

"How are you doing? Really?"

"Better than I thought honestly, but I still feel a little shitty." I sighed, "I didn't expect to connect again with my friends and lose them in a few months. I was back to square one, being awkward, shy and friendless. It was all about reclaiming Monaco from Charles but that rat managed to reclaim my heart."

"Did you just call your boyfriend a rat-"

"In a cute way. All that aside, how are you doing?"

"Don't laugh at me." He nervously gulped.

"My expectations are low buddy, tell me what's up." I pat his shoulder.

"Okay so I'm trying to work up courage to ask someone out, I don't know if I should take a chance."

"Does this someone's name start will L and end with A?" I teased him.

"You're such a child." He rolled his eyes.

"Answer with yes or no."

"Yeah, it's her. She's just, out of this world."

"Then tell her you think that, but in an informal setting."

"No. I was planning to walk into my superior's office and confess my feelings to her while she was going through an excel spreadsheet." He joked.

"Thank God I stopped you." I chuckled, I glanced at my phone to notice a text from Charles.

Charles: How busy are you in March?

You: I'm actually very busy, the queen of England wants to meet me and so does Prince Albert

Charles: ... why are you like this?

Charles: when you are done with meeting all the royals, will you be able to be join me? To come watch the first race of the season?

You: 👁👁

You: YES. Now you go train well😘

Charles: I'm taking a breather, what are you up to?

You: I finished writing a brief for the writing team back in Japan, I'd never be able to finish on time if I write by myself so my agent got me a team! Now I'm watching a movie

Charles: Ah, so you're relaxing while some poor interns slave away how evil

You: Tell them to write one of the best shows Japan has ever seen maybe then they wouldn't have to be interns 🤷🏻‍♀️

Charles: Someone's sassy today 😂

You: But I do acknowledge I got very lucky🙄
