Dear Cairo,
It has now been 2 years without you. My friends say I should move on but, it is not that easy. I just can't.
I have changed a lot. My hair grew longer, just like yours. I also have a new tattoo now. It says your name 'Cairo Layent' with a heart next to it.
I can not get over the fact that even though I have changed, you will forever be that 22-year-old boy who never listened to anything other that Troye Sivan and Lauv, who loved thrift shopping and drinking Caramel Frappuccino's from Macdonald's.
Your smile was the only thing keeping me going but now... I no longer have a reason to wake up in the mornings.
I started a new job at a tattoo and piercing job called 'Pierce my heart'. The name reminds me of the way you stole my heart.
I miss the days where I would stare st you work for hours and hours while I kept ordering Americanos to have a reason to stay. You said it tastes like hot sewage water but I said it tastes like the winter snow. You laughed and called me crazy.
I loved your laugh, it was adorable. You were adorable. Everything from your hair, to your plump lips, to your soft hands, to the soles of your feet, made me wonder, how did I get so lucky? Everyday, I thank you for loving someone as imperfect and unworthy as me.
Love from Jayden Grant
P.S. I still love you❤️
