Kim Seokjin and Kim Taehyung both met as young boys in the orphanage. They quickly became very close and always looked out for one another.
Seokjin was very shy and timid, whereas Taehyung was very outgoing and brave. Little Tae took it upon himself to look out for the sweet young Seokjin and made sure no one picked on him.
They would go fishing early every morning to gather fish for their meals. And during one outing, little Tae found a clamshell and found a beautiful pearl inside.
He brought it home and he made a ring with it using some wire he found laying around.

He then gave it to the most important person in his life. Who swore he would never take it off.
Their relationship was special and they thought they would always be in each others lives.
But one day, a small group of recruitment officers arrived at the orphanage and studied the children there. And after two days of watching them, they left the orphanage with several young boys who will be trained to be part of the royal guards.
The royal guards consisted of 36 young, highly trained men. And the captain of the guards was the one who was closest to the king and protected him with his life.
Among them was little Taehyung. He had to leave his sweet friend behind who was devastated at losing him. They barely had a chance to say goodbye before he was whisked away.
Jin was never the same after that and rarely spoke to anyone. Whenever anyone would try to talk to him, he would just remain quiet. So they gave up trying and he spent the rest of his time at the orphanage alone.
Taehyung went on to the royal court and began his training. He met other young boys there who were recruited just like him. At least that's the word used for what they've done.
Some boys were just taken from their families against their will. And they threatened to harm the rest of the family if they refused.
Taehyung took to his training and was soon the best among the young boys. As he grew, the young teenage prince took a special interest in him and had him train extra hard to become the best of the best.
The young prince was growing up to be very handsome and had many young maidens who admired him and hoped to be chosen to be his queen.
But he had no such interest in the female persuasion. After the passing of his father, he assumed his place as the new king. The royal council knew that he would never agree to a marriage with a female. So the search began for a male spouse.
