A Mermaid's Tail

Chapter 1

Hey guys! This is my first story I have written.

I don't know much about mermaids, but this is my version of it.

Amelia's P.O.V.

I groan as my alarm went off way too early than it should. I ignored it, but the beeps keep getting louder and louder by the second, so I slam down on the snooze button and lay in bed for a minute or two before I got up. I really hate morning especially waking up at six o'clock in the morning. I drag myself to the bathroom and did my morning routine. I change into my sky-blue bikini and over that I wore my white sundress with blue floral designs and my favourite blue sandals. I brush my long wavy dark brown hair and then put it in a messy bun. I grab bag and put my school books in it. I unplug my phone from the charger and put it in my bag. I go down stairs making sure I don't wake anyone, luckily everyone was still asleep. After eating my breakfast I make my way to the beach.

Not many people were at the beach, just the surfers. I make my way to the rocks near the water. I put my bag down and then took off my sandals and dress and waited for Bella. Isabella is my bestfriend. We're like sisters. We met when we were 5 at school and since then we have been together. Our lives have been a lot more complicated since then. A lot has changed. It all started 5 years ago, we were 12 years old then. I still remember the day like yesterday. It was the last week before school started, we were on a camping trip with our families on Aqua Island.

~Flashback~

"Amelia! Let's go exploring!" 12 year old Bella says excitedly

"You two are not going anywhere! I'm in charge of looking after you. So I will be responsible, when something happens to you" replies an 16 year old version of my brother, Christian.

"You two will probably get lost or trip and fall flat on your face or something" sniggers my 10 year old younger brother, James.

"Will not!" a 12 year old me yells at James.

"James, Christian! Leave Amelia and Isabella alone and go help your father with starting the fire" my mother Rachel tells my idiot brothers as she tries to calm my crying 5 year old sister, Stella.

"Wanna go?" whispers Bella to me while the others aren't looking. I nod my head eagerly. Then we sneak off while the others are busy.

"What do we do? We've gone around this place at least 3 times already." I tell Bella as we climb over some rocks near the small waterfall and stone wall. We had gotten lost on our tour of the forest. It was night time and the moon was up. It was a full moon tonight.

"I don't know. Go around the other way or something" Bella says with a worried voice.

"Lets sit for a minute. My feet are killing me."I sit down on the huge rock and lean my back against the stone wall behind me, while I take off my shoes and rub my feet and then dip them in the water. The cold water helps my aching feet. When I look over I see Bella curled up in a ball beside me.

"Bella you okay?" I ask her worriedly.

"I'm s-sorry Mia. This is my fault. If I hadn't said to explore the forest this wouldn't have h-happened" her voice was breaking and she had tears in her eyes threatening to spill.

"Bella, you know this isn't your fault." I said in a comforting voice as I hug.

"Thanks Lia" she says as she wipes the tears that had fallen. Just as I was about to reply the stone wall near the water fall began to glow a gold colour before it disappeared. I sat there dumbfounded. When I look at Bella, she had the same the expression as me.

"Did that wall just..." I trail of not knowing to what to say.

"Y-Yeah... I think... I-If you saw what I did, then y-yeah" she stuttered out.

I slowly stood up and put on my shoes and started to walk over to it, with Bella behind me. We both slowly walked in. It was like a cave, the walls were stone wall and it was lit up by metal and wood fire torches. We follow the path and it lead us to the dead end, but the walls had carving on it.

"It's a dead end" Bella says in a small voice still looking around her.

"Yeah, but look at the carvings on the wall." I say to her in amazement. There was a painting of two mermaids that was done in some kind of weird blue and purple luminous ink. There was one of two crowns in the same ink, the design on the crown was breath taking. The rest of the walls were covered with water like carvings. The main part that stood out was, the painting of two mermaid holding the crown but there was a hole in the middle of the painting of the crown that look like it was missing something. Underneath that there was something written in beautiful writing. The writing looked like Latin, but it was hard to see there was a lot of dust on it and some of it was faded away.

"This is beautiful" says Bella with an awestruck look.

"I know"

"Is that Latin?"

"Looks like it. What do you think it says?" I ask her.

"Don't know" she shrugs. The space in the crown began to glow. Both and Bella slowly reaches to touch it. When our and makes contact with it. The glowing light stops and before we know it we get sucked in to the wall. I let out and ear piercing scream. I felt like I was falling and then splash. Before I know it I was under water. The water went into my lungs and I started chocking. I swam toward the surface. I starting coughing like crazy getting the water out before I could breath properly again. I was breathing heavily. When I looked over I saw that Bella was in the state as me. All of the sudden the water started heating up and glowing as small bubbles of water starts to flood upwards.

"W-What's going o-on?" I chocked out. I look up and the see the fullmoon above my head. It looks like the moon was glowing and that it was doing this. After the moon went away from the view the water went back to normal.

"What just happened" asks Bella with a shocked and confused look.

"I have no idea what so ever" I breathed out. It took me a minute, but I realised that we in the volcano. Aqua Island in made up of an old extinct volcano and forest with the sea surrounding it. "We're in the volcano" I say to myself out loud.

"What? That's not possible. We didn't go up the forest" Bri says as she tries to catch her breath. I felt dizzy all of the sudden and eyes started to blur. "Mai. W-What going on? I feel dizzy" I hear Bella say before I see her blurry figure past out and not long after I do to.
