These lyrics describe Hope's relationship with her parents. She loves them dearly and doesn't know of their eventual passing. This makes her afraid to love when they do pass. As she feels anyone she loves leaves or dies. Like her parents.

This pertains to the time after her parents have passed away. She eventually starts to cope with it. As she does she feels stronger and like she can be ok. She wants to prove she can be ok without her parents.

This Pertains to when Hope finds she likes Hermione. She realizes how much Hermione means to her as a friend. Then when they get together she realizes how much Hermione means to her when they're dating.
