All the nuns, current nurses and former nurses gathered round the table in the dining hall of Nonnatus house. Everyone was tucking in to all the lavish food.

"Shelagh, Doctor Turner is waiting for you in the entrance hall, it might be to do with your TB." Sister Julienne told her. Shelagh smiled at her, thanking her for letting her know. She left the room. Trixie smirked and stood up stating 'she needed the bathroom'. In reality, she followed Shelagh.

"Hello, Doctor." Shelagh smiled at him.

"Hello, Nurse. May we go somewhere more private?"

"Of course." She beamed at him and then led him up the stairs to her bedroom. "What is it? Is it about my TB?"

"No, it's about us." Trixie had opened the door slightly and peeped her head through. She squealed quietly and started grinning like the Cheshire cat.

"Us? ..." Shelagh was ecstatic. She had liked Doctor Turner for a few years now. That's why she left the order, she prayed to be with him. Well, that and she had romantic feelings for a man, something you can't do as a nun.

"Yes." He gestured for her to sit next to him on the bed. "Timothy misses you. Here." He passed her a box with another dead butterfly in it. Its wing was partially broken. "He found it on the ground next to the lavender bushes in our garden. He asked if you knew how its wing was broken. It's fine if you don't."

"I do. It-"

"Tell us both tomorrow. At our house, for dinner. Me, you and Tim. He misses you, like I said, and so do I." He moved closer to her and gently held her waist. He waited for her to speak. She didn't for a while, she just stared into his eyes.

"I- I missed you too..." She squeaked. Trixie started hopping up and down like she actually did need the bathroom.

"Trixie?" Sister Julienne whispered and started to move towards her swiftly. She startled her a bit and she held her hands to her chest.

"Sister! You scared me! Shh!" She whispered back. "Look!"

Sister Julienne stood in Trixie's place and watched and listened to Shelagh and Doctor Turner's conversation.

Shelagh hugged him tightly and he started to stroke her back.

"I love you Doctor." She whispered so quietly only he could hear.

"I love you too." He said it loud enough for Shelagh, Trixie and Sister Julienne to hear. Trixie started squeaking and hopping about again, assuming given he said 'too' she said it first. Sister Julienne was in shock. Her former Sister had found love. She was happy for her but at the same time, that meant she could never come back. "And you must call me Patrick."

"Ok then... Patrick," she giggled slightly after using his first name. Non of the other nurses or nuns knew his name, only she and Sister Julienne, who only knew for professional reasons. "Then you must call me Shelagh."

He pulled her out of their hug and held her cheek. It was soft and smooth.

" 'Shelagh.' I love that name. It's sweet, it suits you." She giggled even more after hearing him say her name. She loved his voice.

He held hold of her waist again and pulled her close to him, their lips connecting. It was a very quick kiss. He didn't know whether it was too soon for her or not. He stared into her eyes and they fluttered shut again as she leaned in again. This time it was longer. He knew she wanted it as it her her who leaned in first.

(This is from Shelagh's POV)

His lips were soft and gentle. I opened my eyes slightly. His eyes were still closed so he didn't realise mine were open. I took this time to examine his face. I held his cheek and felt his smooth skin and I brushed my hand through his hair. It was soft and even though it looked scruffy and untidy, you could tell he at least tried to tame it. His eyes fluttered open. They were a deep chocolaty brown colour, like his hair. They were reassuring and kind and gentle and after looking at him for just more than a second, you could tell he was the type of person that you can trust with anything. I pulled away from his lips, however we were still close, our noses were still touching. I looked deeply at him and took in his scent. I could smell his cigarettes. I felt safe. I rested my head in his chest, I could feel him breathing.

3rd person POV

Trixie started jumping around in circles and squealing. Sister Julienne was wondering how on Earth Shelagh and Doctor Turner hadn't heard her yet.

"Come on, Trixie. Let's leave them to it." Sister Julienne grabbed Trixie's wrist, gently, and pulled her away back into the dining hall, joining the others.

"Oh well. I'd better go before my food goes cold." Shelagh started. "Well, that's if Sister Monica Joan hasn't eaten it already." They both started to chuckle. Doctor Turner rested his forehead on hers and kissed it gently.

"Ok. So, what time am I picking you up then?" He smiled at her cheekily, knowing that even though she didn't actually agree to go, she would.

"Whichever time is perfect for you and Tim."

"6:00 alright?"

She smiled at him and gave him the 'ok' eyes. She kissed his head and left him sitting there on the bed. She joined the others.

She just started to cut her roast potatoes when Trixie started to speak.

"So. Shelagh." Shelagh carried on cutting her potato. "Is Doctor Turner a good kisser?" All the nuns and nurses dropped their cutlery and all stared at Shelagh with wide eyes. Shelagh's head shot up like a bullet and she stared at Trixie with the 'please don't tell' eyes. However, I don't think Trixie got the message. Trixie glanced at Sister Julienne, who didn't look too impressed, but she carried on talking anyway. "Only, I went to go to the bathroom and as I was passing my bedroom, I saw your bedroom door slightly open, and when I was just about to close it, for privacy's sake, I saw you and Doctor Turner kissing!"

Everyone's eyes darted to Shelagh.

"Oh Trixie, I don't know what you're talking about." She shoved a potato in her mouth and looked around the table. Everyone had smirks on their faces and all kept eye contact with her. "Is everyone really going to believe Trixie? You know how much gossip she collects and passes round." She said after swallowing her potato.

"Yes, we do. But we also know how much of her gossip is correct. It's always correct!" Nurse Valerie Dyer was the first person to speak, apart from Shelagh and Trixie, after hearing the news.

"Exactly." Trixie said matter of factly. "AND I have a witness!" All eyes turned to who Trixie was beaming at, Sister Julienne.
Sister Julienne remained quiet, because she respected Shelagh's privacy, but she gave it up as a bad job as everyone believed Trixie anyway. She turned her straight face into a grin and everyone cheered, looking at Shelagh.

"So? You never answered our first question! Is he a good kisser?"

"Well, given I was a nun for over fifteen years, I don't really have anyone else to go off... So I suppose so..." She wanted to say yes as many times as she could, but she didn't because she knew how crazy Trixie would react.
