Stars lit the sky like snowflakes in the night, yet appear still, like an old photograph. I smiled, feeling the wind blow my hair into a tousled mane as I walked along the sidewalk toward the building. It's my third night and since the first two were a breeze, I expected pretty much the same routine. Sit for hours monitoring cameras and expect nothing.

I took my sweet time unlocking the front doors. Stepping inside revealed the darkness that appeared like the thick velvet curtains of the theatre. It was as if the daytime had been one part of a play and the rest was to come after this intermission of night. I let my eyes wander around as I headed straight for the office. The dark atmosphere of the attraction never bothered me. If anything, I don't ever recall being afraid of the dark which is ironic since I do get scared when I think of the ocean.

I swung the keys in my hands out of boredom as I passed the rows of ancient merchandise and maze of stained walls. Heading into the office, even the ticking had a relaxed feeling to me, as if it was a heartbeat at rest. I felt as if the air moved like cool water and the odor presumably from the relics infused me far more deeply than it did in the light of day. In the shadows, the exterior of the attraction's building was muted hues, as if they too awaited dawn to ignite their colors for all to see. The seat squeaked as I sat down and pulled out the tablet. Nothing seemed out of place. I let the tablet stay on the fifth camera as I wondered as to why the sounds were even necessary. I understood surveillance but were the sounds meant to frighten trespassers? I shrugged at my thoughts as I waited for any sign of strange activity.

About an hour in, there was an odd noise emitting amidst the halls. At first, I assumed it to be a rat or two but the cameras proved otherwise. As I turned to check the monitors, I caught onto something rather suspicious. A shadowy figure stood beneath a light yet due to the camera's poor quality, I was only able to see its outline. Was that a rabbit? I heard rumors of the place having an animatronic but I was informed it had been labeled to be out of order. Jim told me not to worry about it. Regardless, it didn't make me feel any safer knowing that there was something or rather someone roaming the halls.

Whatever it was coming up the passageway to my office is either large and possibly heavily armed or hopefully a stupid teenager who considers themselves untouchable. Whilst I slink in the shadows in instinct to hide from its gaze, this person allows their footsteps to echo off the buildings' walls announcing their arrival to all in several hundred-meter radii. My heart thumped against my chest as beads of sweat proceeded to roll down my forehead. Getting down, my first instinct was to hide beneath the trashed table. Cupping my hands over my mouth, I kept quiet as I listened carefully to the stomping that followed the creature creaking its way into the office. The odor grew pungent as it clacked its way in. My stomach cramped to the muffled heavy breathing that released from its jaws.
"Where is M-Michael?" It spoke. The thing in the room with me spoke. Its voice was venomous and deep as it practically growled out of its system. A few steps forward was all it took before it quietly stood still. It remained in a crooked stance for a minute or two until a shriek of bolts echoed in the small room when it bent down to level its gaze with mine as I stay kneeled beneath the table. That's when I took it in for what it was. A disgusting robotic hare with piercing white eyes that seemed to see right through me. Its body was covered in matted golden fur that had grown green presumably over the years of its existence.

When the adrenaline came I felt vigorous, because it burned the anxious feelings away. It gave me the sense of "flight" away from this beast who was causing the fear. It was effective. In time the anxiousness ebbed to nothing. My thoughts were soloed with how loud my heartbeat rang in my ears followed by the cramping in my stomach. I screamed as loud as my lungs would allow me to as I barely managed to escape its grasp while I crawled away from the table. My legs felt shaky but my thoughts were clouded with the need to run. I wasn't sure what the hell that thing was or why it suddenly appeared after two nights of silence, but I did not want to find out what would happen if I stayed in a room with it. I heard a booming cackle as it raced behind me.
A symphony of metal striking the concrete floor beneath us and a jingling of wires interrupted my ability to think thoroughly as I urgently approached the exit. My means for escape prevailed once the door refused to open. My mouth parted as I began to hyperventilate with the idea of getting mangled in the hands of such a violent creature. The robotic hare was quick on its feet as it closed in on me. I raised my arms, the lanyard with the keys falling to my feet as I weakly attempted to protect myself from its monstrous strength.
"Please! Stop!" I demanded even if I knew it would ignore my pleas. Tears soon glossed over my eyes as I awaited for my demise. Goodbye?
