Bonnie's Letter sent a shock wave through the Pack. She was sorry she had lied about something, but the only thing that made sense was too horrible to consider. Michael had said there might be trouble coming all those weeks ago, but we had all assumed it was Lucian. It was a shock to find out that Dolton had joined him, but not as big as this. Bonnie had become part of the Pack, part of the Hunt. There was no way, she had to be talking about something else. I read the letter over and over again, searching for something, some hidden message. Maybe she didn't have a choice, maybe she was just in over her head, made a bad deal she couldn't get away from. It didn't matter what it was, I couldn't believe that Bonnie had betrayed us. you couldn't fake what we had, there's no way, there would have been a sign, something, anything.

Though a few of the Pack were quick to condemn her. Those of that knew her well, weren't so sure. Michael said.

"If she come back, she can explain what she meant, no judgement, were family until proven otherwise, there's no point speculating."

I agreed with him, we could write her off be wrong about everything, we were better off waiting to see if she came back to find out the whole truth.

Michael had Mitchel put out an APB on her bike, officers were given a picture from my phone, with instructions to locate, not arrest, then we all waited wit our fingers crossed. Kelly, scout and I even rode out to the old saw mill where I had been held, but it was just as empty as when Michael had found it after I'd returned.

A day turned into days, then a week, it began to feel less and less likely Bonnie was going to return. That was when it all turned to shit.

Mitchel Came to the Den to update us on the situation, they were treating it like a missing persons case so all of the Sheriffs were working on it. Laynie had come with him, I could tell it was eating her up, even before she had found out the truth, Laynie and Bonnie had liked each other. When Laynie started coming to the Den after work, Bonnie took to her, and they had been close since. I think she felt guilty for letting her go or for not asking more questions when she had given her the letter. Which after reading it a thousand times, felt more like goodbye, than I'm sorry. It was around 9pm, Mitchel and Laynie had just finished their shifts and the den was still closed for a few more days. We sat in the booth Michael usually reserved for himself. Scout had gone to his trailer with Liz, so it was just Michael, Kelly and me, with Mitchel and Laynie.

"I don't know what to say, she left no trace, nobody in town, other that Laynie saw her leave, and she hasn't been spotted since, I mean, I didn't know the woman but it sounds like she ran." Mitchel said while taking a sip from a Bud Light Kelly had given him.

I was going to snap at him, but Kelly spoke first.

"She wasn't running away, she said as much in her message, it sounded like she was trying to protect Marcus, the real question is from what."

I took a large gulp from the glass of whiskey I had poured.

"I don't get why she left, if there was trouble she could have just told us, did we ever give her a reason to think she couldn't?" I said.

Laynie, who was sat next to me, put her hand on my back, I felt like she wanted to pull me in but resisted the public display.

"What ever happened it doesn't matter, she needs to come home." Michael said Knocking back his glass then pouring us both another.

As the glass filled there was a roaring sound outside and light temporarily flooded the Den. It took a second for me to realise it was headlights from a car.

"You expecting somebody?" Mitchel said standing up from his seat.

As he turned to look out of the window, the glass came crashing in followed by a storm of automatic weapon fire. We all hit the ground as quick as we could, Mitchel taking a shot in the shoulder as he went down.
